Write a legal memorandum for your hypothetical lawyer boss

In lieu of a final exam this week, you will have research, analyze and write a legal memorandum for your hypothetical lawyer boss, as well as prepare draft correspondence on your boss’ behalf to a new client.  Use the following fact pattern as the basis for both documents:

Ricky is a full-time grad student taking Legal Studies courses.  He hopes to someday fulfill his dream of becoming the lead paralegal manager at Howe, Prack, Tiss & Law, the world’s largest international law firm that happens to be headquartered in his home state of Montana.

Tired of looking at snow, Ricky decided to enjoy Spring Break in Florida.  Ricky flew to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for a week with all of the other Spring Breakers who have converged on the city that week.

Ricky thoroughly enjoyed several great days in Ft. Lauderdale.  While he was there, Ricky decided to buy a used car and drive back to Montana.  He bought a 1974 Fordham Pintobean because it was painted neon green; that would make it easier for him to find his car in the Montana snow after he got home.

All good things must come to an end, and the same was true for Ricky’s vacation.  When that time came, Ricky filled up the gas tank on his new old car.  Then he started driving north.

A few hours later, Ricky ran into some traffic gridlock on the interstate near Valdosta, Georgia.  After rounding a curve, he had to come to an immediate stop.  Unfortunately for Ricky, the driver (Lucy) of the car behind him did not stop in time to avoid a collision.

As soon as Lucy’s car struck Ricky’s Pintobean, a fireball consumed both cars.  Even though Ricky had already applied his brakes due to the slowed traffic, the force of the hit from Lucy’s car caused Ricky’s car to strike Ethel’s pickup truck, which was in front.  Lucy died as a result of the accident, while Ricky sustained serious burns and multiple broken bones.  Ethel suffered whiplash and a nervous breakdown because of the accident.

Several months later, a process server knocked on Ricky’s door at his Montana home, and handed him an envelope that contained all of the necessary paperwork from Ethel, who was suing him based on that dreadful accident.  Ricky has now come to your attorney’s small law firm (Mee, Mihself and Eye); he wants advice on what to do now.

Mr. Mee has accepted Ricky as a new client.  While he focuses on defending Ricky against Ethel’s lawsuit, Mr. Mee has asked you to help in preparing the case.  In particular, he wants you to draft a legal office memorandum about a single issue: whether Florida (the state where Ricky bought his car) has a lemon law that could possibly be used in Ricky’s case.  If so, then he wants you to analyze that law relative to the above- described fact pattern.  In addition, Mr. Mee also wants you to write the first draft of client letter that he wants to send to Ricky along with a copy of your legal office memorandum.

As a single Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) document submission, please turn in: (a) your legal memorandum (no more than five pages in length), (b) correspondence (no more than two pages in length), and (c) proof that you used either Nexis Uni or FastCase as you researched.  Use the formats and strategies that you have learned in this course.  Be sure that you apply proper Bluebook citations, as appropriate.

How to Help Your People Bring Great Ideas to Life (2013)

In Innovation as Usual: How to Help Your People Bring Great Ideas to Life (2013), Miller and Wedell-Wedellsborg discuss the importance of establishing systems within organizations that promote not only the creativity that results in innovation, but also make it possible for employees to bring innovative ideas to fruition. Miller and Wedell-Wedellsborg argue that a leader’s primary job “is not to innovate; it is to become an innovation architect, creating a work environment that helps . . . people engage in the key innovation behaviors as part of their daily work” (page 4). Such a work environment must be reinforced by innovation architecture. The structures within an organization that support an innovation, from the brainstorming phase to final realization. The more well developed the architecture and the simpler the processes involved, the more likely employees are to be innovators.

For this assignment, you will research the innovation architecture of at least three companies that are well-known for successfully supporting a culture of innovation. Write a 1,500-word paper that addresses the following:

What particular elements of each organization’s culture, processes, and management systems and styles work well to support innovation?

Why do you think these organizations have been able to capitalize on innovation and intrapreneurship while others have not?

Based on what you have learned, what processes and systems might actually stifle innovation and intrapreneurship?

Additionally, imagine yourself as an innovation architect. What structures or processes would you put in place to foster a culture of innovation within your own organization?

Include in-text citations to at least four reputable secondary sources (such as trade journals, academic journals, and professional or industry websites) in your paper.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Human resource management summary Executive branch report book

Firstly, the Executive Summary Assignment will help you learn how to write the Executive Summary required for the Report Assignment. With that in mind, you may be wondering how you will write this before you have finished writing the report.I’ve tried to break out a few of the key assignments from the big report assignment so that you can work on them and get some feedback.

Also, know that you’ll probably be able to use some of your work from this assignment when you add your Executive Summary to the report, but you’ll likely need to add some details after you have finished the report. In fact, this has become the accepted and preferred style; however, if your Executive Summary ends up being too long for this you can put it on its own page.

Secondly, an Executive Summary describes the most basic essential details of the report for an experience. Executive branch that may have multiple reports on their desk and not have time to read the entire report just yet. Keep in mind that writing the cover letter, executive summary and conclusion assignments are going to seem repetitive.

Also, Remember that reports are read by multiple choices within an organization and different readers will be skipping around to the different parts that pertain to them: Sales, tech, research, executive, HR–all of these areas have different needs and expectations and sometimes reports will be hundreds of pages long.

Conclusion

Lastly, that’s why summaries are necessary and why a lot of times it is going to seem like you’re repeating. How to complete the work. Write an executive summary of one or two paragraphs that sums up the report to this point. You might not know everything yet since you haven’t finished the report; however, you should have a pretty good idea of where things are going and the big picture at this point.
