How is the therapeutic alliance or therapist client relationship curative on its own?

We all know that good therapeutic relationship is associate with better psychotherapy outcome. I have a simple question, some theoreticians/clinicians and researchers suggest that the therapeutic relationship is curative on its own. As I have tried to study that question I am interested to hear people thoughts on what about the relationship is curative and how does that work?
