The selected social policy should be one that has undergone debate, has passed and is currently in the implementation stage at the national, state or local level. Assignment A: (4-6 pages) The first section of the assignment will provide background information/ analysis of the social problem, legislative history and a specific program developed to address the problem.

This section of the paper should address the following issues: 1. The social context a). Firstly, describe the social problem (definition, subtype, magnitude etc.). b). Secondly, how is the problem understood (causal explanation) c). Thirdly, who are the key figures and groups affected by this problem? 2. Current policy to address the problem a). Firstly, provide a brief description of the most current policy (include the policy title and date of passage) b). Secondly, what are the stated goals and objectives of the policy c). Lastly, is it a national, state or local policy?
