Firstly, R‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌ead John Winthrop’s book “A Model of Christian Charity.”. The textbook’s description is Becoming America: An exploration of American literature. This literature identifies the journey from precolonial to post revolution A Model of Christian Charity (p. 136).

Secondly, listen to two made during the past from two prominent leaders. The prominent leaders are Kennedy and Reagan. As you listen, pay careful attention to how they make use of the “city upon a hill” phrase in their speeches.

In addition to these two speeches, Puritan leader John Winthrop’s provided his description of the same. His description of American as a “city upon a hill” contributed to the idea of American exceptionalism. The phrase has been recycle‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍d by a number of politicians, most notably John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. the speeches are found on YouTube: John F. Lastly, based on the speeches of each, how do you think they interpret the phrase or statement? Moreover, are their interpretations similar to or different from Winthrop’s interpretation?

Additionally, consider also that Kennedy used the phrase when entering office and Reagan used the phrase as a farewell‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍ when leaving office.
