Neoliberal globalisation in education

Neoliberal globalisation in education

A written assignment is an analysis of spoken or written discourse using appropriate theoretical material.
Remember that you need a text you can critique, not a text that is already critical of a social problem.
Framework for analysis: your framework is CDA, or SFL with CDA, or MMDA, or CDA with MMDA, or D&B’s framework.
Essay structure is not specified, but try not to waste space on describing your data (I can read it), or copying verbatim what someone has said about CDA
(without explanation), or on summaries of what CDA is about. Try to show all this through your analysis. Introduction and conclusion should be short; no
need to waffle.
Present data clearly (format is not important; presentation is). The tutor should not spend too much time looking for it, converting files, etc. – please make it
simple. Further, please ensure that links don’t disappear before a tutor gets to read/listen to the data. If there is a possibility of this happening, then please
save your data in another way and attach it to your essay.
1. demonstrate in-depth knowledge of theoretical material in relation to discourse analysis
2. explain why particular theoretical material is appropriate for a chosen analytic task
3. apply relevant theoretical material in the analysis of spoken and written discourse
4. critically evaluate the theoretical material that they have used
