What, in your educated opinion, is the most significant political issue facing Canada at present?
Drawing on your built knowledge of your course materials (readings, supplementary readings, lectures and/or video resources). Also, your additional academic sources explain why you see this issue as significant. How or why it is made so.

Discuss and demonstrate how this issue shapes and/or is shaped by the current and/or historical practice and/or structures of Canadian politics. (As narrowly or broadly as you chose to define them keeping in mind your word and page limitations). Where relevant you may lay out the options or choices in policy, action and/or structure moving forward. Make sure to clearly and thoroughly document and demonstrate your argument.

In evaluating your response great emphasis will be place d on your critical use. Also, understanding of the readings, concepts, theories and examples covered in your course materials. Since you have plenty of time to consider your argument, be sure to integrate into your analysis relevant conceptual, comparative and contextual information from relevant class materials backed up with rigorous citation.

Your written work will be grade d for insight, analytical skill, inclusion, variety and organization of relevant course materials. Further, bibliographic references and appropriate citation, clarity of expression, accuracy, and relevance of content. In addition to your text, your paper must substantively incorporate a minimum of 3 additional academic sources.

Demonstrate your thoughtful, informed argument by backing up everything you say with reason, logic and evidence from your materials. When asked for an opinion, you are being ask ed for an inform ed, demonstrate d and document ed argument, not belief or unsubstantiated rhetoric. How well you demonstrate the breadth and depth of your knowledge of course materials and subject matter will be extremely pertinent to your final mark.
