Media Review Project
Description Students will view one movie listed below and submit an individual review. The review will include a discussion on how management and leadership roles are portrayed in film. Students will describe how concepts of management and leadership, as described in the course textbook, Management Skills for the New Healthcare Supervisor, relate/apply to the film of their choice. Describe individuals with a management/leadership role in the film. (10 points) 2. Discuss which motivational theory (Maslow, Herzberg, McGregor—from our textbook) applies to management and leadership in the film you viewed. (10 points) 3. Discuss aspects of conflict and confrontation (using our textbook as a resource) addressed in the film. (10 points) 4. Describe the relationship between the managers/leaders and subordinates in the film (using our textbook as a resource). (10 points) 5. Describe the themes of the film. (10 points) 6. Discuss the characteristics, traits, and/or theories you would (or would not) consider adopting as part of your leadership style, and why (using our textbook as a resource). (10 points) 7. Discuss how the film depicts basic management functions (using our textbook as a resource). (10 points) 8. What characteristics of effective teams were (or were not) demonstrated in the film? Discuss the characteristics of individual members toward success as a team. Discuss the characteristics of individual members who were not team players (using our textbook as a resource). (10 points) 9. Discuss what you like most and least about the film. (10 points) 10. Use of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Answers to each question are properly numbered and constructed as a mini essay. (10 points) The project is to be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman 12 point font, not to exceed 6 pages. Besides content, students will be graded on grammar, spelling, and proper APA 6.0 format of in text citation or textbook (you do not need a title page, abstract, or reference page). Instructions for Submission of Individual Project: Media Review Project is to be submitted into the Media Review Project box in Module 13 You may submit projects prior to the deadline. Projects submitted after the deadline will lose 5 points for each day late. Answers to questions are to be completed as mini-essays. Do as you do with Individual assignments—number the questions you are answering. A mini-essay means you answer the question completely and use concepts from the McConnell text (where indicated) to support your work. Technology is not an excuse for late or incomplete projects. Students complete or submit the project due to emergency or illness must notify the course instructor prior to the deadline to make alternate arrangements for submitting the project.
