Global Spread of COVID-19 AND Effective Responses to COVID-19
Global Spread of COVID-19 AND Effective Responses to COVID-19
In this assignment, you will research global interconnections and the reasons COVID-19 spread so rapidly (and inequitably) around the world.
On the provided map (or printed with markers/string):
Mark location(s) of COVID-19 initial outbreak with an ORANGE pin (copy and paste from the legend)
List the sources of your information on a separate reference sheet (properly formatted)
Draw lines (Insert, Shapes) indicating the spread of COVID-19 from its initial outbreak in early 2020 with PURPLE line (change colour of Shape Outline, if necessary)
Make sure to list the sources of your information on a separate reference sheet (properly formatted)
NOTE: you may attach an image from an external source instead if it shows EXACTLY what is being requested. Make sure to include the source.
Write an explanation of:
How global interconnections (human and economic) contributed to the spread of COVID-19 around the world;
What, if any, effects the COVID-19 pandemic had on global interconnections (human and economic).
NOTE: You may use PowerPoint or another program for your written explanation. Remember to cite your sources.
for part b In this assignment, you will research the best ways to limit the spread of COVID-19 and the role of the global community in fighting the virus.
In a news report (i.e. newspaper article, magazine article, video clip, radio clip, etc.), explain to a general audience:
The most effective measures to slow the spread of COVID-19;
The reasons vaccines were successfully developed quickly;
The current global vaccination situation (i.e. availability of vaccines around the world, rates of vaccination in various places, limits to vaccination programs, etc.);
The likelihood of eliminating COVID-19 without a global strategy.
NOTE: The news report should be concise. A newspaper article should be, at most, 800 words; magazine article, at most, 1500 words (include images); television and radio, at most, 2:30 minutes. Part of the challenge is taking a large amount of information and synthesizing it into something more manageable and informative. Assume your audience does not know anything about this topic; this will help your audience understand the issues.
