Examine a social problem that impacts social workers

You will critically examine a social problem that impacts social workers and the clients they serve. In 3-5 pages, you will need to cover the following:

1) Identify the social issue or problem;

·       Describe what it is. Use statistics and sources to tell me about how widespread this problem is, how many people it impacts, and how. (1-2 paragraphs)

2) Determine which vulnerable groups are impacted by the social issue and briefly explain how they are impacted;

·       These are likely multiple groups, so mention each one and how they are impacted. (women, children, people of color, LGBT, immigrant, low-income individuals/families, people with disabilities, older adults, etc.) (1-2 pages)

o   For example, if you chose poverty as your issue, you’d want to mention that the groups MOST impacted in the U.S. are children, single mothers, and people of color. Then, talk about how poverty impacts each group specifically (access to equally funded educational opportunities, impacts on health, etc.)

3) Describe at least two previous and current attempts, strategies, and policies to address or solve the issue or problem;

·       What types of programs of policies exist to address this issue? Are there any that are propose in bills/legislation now that are trying to change the approach to address the problem? (1-2 pages)

4) Briefly explain why social workers should care about this issue (1-2 paragraphs)

3-5 pages, APA format with a cover page, in-text citations, and reference page. 3 sources required (may use more).

Remember, ensure  that the pages are exclusive of the cover and the reference pages. Also, ensure that you include all the references you use in finding research for this assignment paper. References should be at least three for the paper. All references, citation, and writing should follow the APA formatting and styling guidelines. Finally, ensure you focus on the assignment topic in detail.
