Demonstrate understanding of the concepts related to the planning process for social work

Objectives: • To demonstrate understanding of the concepts related to the planning process for social work • To incorporate assessment and theory in developing a feasible plan of action Outline and discuss the major content phases of the planning process. See chapter 14 Johnson text on Black board: Goals, Objectives, Unit of Attention and Strategy Select two of the theoretical foundations or models listed in the Birkenmaier text: One of the models must be the Strengths perspective plus one theory from the following list: Ecosystems Social Justice Human Rights Solution Focused Narrative Social Construction/Deconstruction/Critical Social Construction How do the theories selected relate to the planning process/ your plan? You will need to define/discuss the theories as part of your answer. As the foundation for the plan, use the assessments you submitted as part of your final for SW Theory and Methods I. Edit, modify, clean up your assessment as necessary; make sure your assessment covers as many of the relevant items in the Social history as applicable and contains a narrative that pulls the items together and gives a view of the client. Your assessment will not be graded as part of the planning paper assignment, but is submitted for the Methods 2 instructor to have an idea who you are writing the plan for. Put the assessment paper in the front of your planning paper. Develop a plan: Review the guidelines for planning in Birkenmaier pg. 155 exhibit 4.10. Also clearly indicate in the planning paper: Does your plan follow the SMART model; if so briefly explain how? (Specific Measureable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely) What elements of diversity are you taking into consideration as you develop the plan? What values/ethics related to social work is relevant to this client? What economic factors might you have to consider in developing the plan? Select one program/resource that relates to your client population that you can use as part of the intervention and as a resource in your plan; briefly explain the program and how to make contact with the resource: Ex: family with small children and economic needs: (SNAP or WIC program); How will you evaluate if your plan is working? Make the evaluation substantial and not just a 1- 2-line statement. What evaluative tools will you use?
