Assessment Task 1
Firstly, Tourism Inventory (Individual Assignment: 2500 words, 30%of overall mark).
Each student will write a report on the current state of tourism in Western Australia. The objective of this inventory is to outline the key characteristics of tourism in Western Australia (demand and supply). This assessment task (#1) provides the foundation for assessment item #2 (SWOT analysis) and assessment item #3 (Tourism 2030 Report).
Students need to gather information on the importance of tourists in Western Australia, including its visitor economy (tourism jobs, tourism’s contribution to the overall economy, visitor numbers and spend, tourism businesses, etc.), a profile of visitors to Western Australia (e.g. international / domestic, activities), and an overview of the tourism product (e.g. accommodation sector, attractions, activities, transport and access),as well as outlining the roles and responsibilities of key organizations dealing with tourism in Western Australia.
For this tourism inventory you need to collate existing data by consulting tourism websites, newspapers, magazines, books and other online and offline published materials as well as academic literature. Students are required to submit a softcopy of their Report on Turnitin.
