The role of corporate culture in business ethics
Description
You are expected to base your essay entirely on the two assigned articles (see attached).
There is no requirement to consult any other sources. But if you do consult any other sources, you must include them in your bibliography and provide references if you cite them. Instructions: Your objective in your essay is two-fold: 1) to explain to the reader (who, you assume, has not read the articles) the main argument(s) of the articles as they relate to the questions below, and 2) to explain to the reader your opinion about these argument(s) and why you hold this opinion.
Below is the structure that your essay should follow with the questions each main paragraph/section should address.
Topic: The role of corporate culture in business ethics: defense and critique. First paragraph: short introduction briefly introducing the topic of your paper (3 to 4 lines). Second section/paragraph: What is the role that corporate culture plays in the ethics of a business, according to John Graham? You cannot discuss every point he makes about this, but be sure to discuss “the culture of character” and the role of the “leader”. This should be your longest paragraph. Third section/paragraph: What is the essence of Hewlin, Dumas, and Burnett’s critique?
That is, what are they criticizing/putting into question and, in particular, how does it apply to the arguments Graham makes in his article? There is much empirical evidence presented and discussed in this article—but your focus should be on the conclusions they draw from this evidence. Fourth paragraph (around 200 words):
What are your opinions about 1) the role of corporate culture (in particular, the culture of character and the role of the leader) in the ethics of a business, and 2) the critique presented by Hewlin, Dumas, and Burnett? (You may write in the first person, obviously).
