Students will then analyze the impact of alternative operations management methods on social responsibility and sustainability. • Research Paper: Prepare and submit a 3500 word research paper. The research paper must be a minimum of 3500 words, typed and double-spaced; this excludes the title page, table of contents, and reference page(s). The research paper must include the sections listed below and each section should start a new page and be clearly identified. The sections shown in the paper should be identical to those used in the Table of Contents. You must also use the APA writing style format; visit the APA web site at www.apa.org ….. It offers a useful 35 minute tutorial on the APA style. 1. Title Page 2. Table of Contents 3. Introduction (focuses attention on the topic) 4. Background (tells the reader why the topic is important to Management) 5. Literature Review * 6. Summary or Conclusion (you may use both but must have one or the other) 7. Recommendation (not required but is useful as it allows you to express your opinions) 8. Reference Page(s) * The Literature Review section should be thorough and restricted to the publications used to gather information on your topic. The paper must contain a minimum of eight references that you acquire and use. Avoid speculation or opinions in the Literature Review section of the paper. Opinions are reserved for the recommendation section. Give equal weight to both pro and con positions regarding your topic. When making or using statements throughout the paper be certain to provide support for the statements. That is, cite the author/expert who did the work you are referencing. All persons, publications, and Internet sources cited in the research paper must appear in the reference section, as well as in the Literature Review section.
