800-1000 words See ch.3, pg. 130, #2 Choose either claim (C) or (E), incorporate a “rule of 3” into it, and write an essay either supporting or contesting the new thesis you have created.
_________________________________________ Adhere to all Seven Keys, especially: Create a single-sentence thesis statement using the given claim and your own “rule of 3.” Even if you do draw on personal experience as suggested in the directives in the text, do not use the disallowed pronouns in this course. Conform to the Argumentative Essay model. That is, remember, briefly disagree with yourself in each body paragraph, then point out the flaw in that disagreement, showing yourself to be right after all. (Use the Argumentative Essay technique in all essays for this course.) Using the Rule of 3: -Quickly and easily yields an essay that is visibly organized and seemingly well-composed -Keeps the writer from “wandering around” in the subject, “wondering” what to say next. It provides a road map to follow and reduces anxiety about the writing assignment -Usually makes it unnecessary to worry about hitting the required word count. The “3” may be components, reasons, aspects, questions, problems, solutions, etc.
