Psychological Strategies
Description Your assignment this week is to submit the topic for your research review.
Reflect on how different psychological strategies and, at least one theory, apply to the population of choice for your topic. You will also submit a mind map showing the topic you brainstormed and the key strategies and theory (themes/subthemes) related to it.
You will receive feedback regarding the appropriateness of the topic you have chosen. Remember, the topic must be one that relates to an issue in psychology and its connections to the welfare of the human being.
These include: (a) compliance with medical treatments (including diet and exercise programs); (b) appointments, organ, and blood donation motivation; (c) psychological issues in caregiving and palliative care; and (d) health promotion and its impact on disease processes.
It also must be a topic for which solutions have been proposed and researched in the health psychology literature because you will eventually evaluate the evidence-based programs related to your topic. In evaluating an evidence-based program two important tips are: (a) the process to achieve the outcomes (process evaluation); and (b) the outcomes that were achieved (outcomes evaluations). An accurate evaluation must have these two elements. For you, the “how” of an evaluation leads to the “what” of an evaluation. You cannot have one without the other. Results of a program do not magically appear without good methodology!
