1.      What are the ethical issues in “Antigone?”
There is a clash between emotion and law. Antigone lost her beloved family members and wished that they could be given a decent burial rite.

2.      Secondly, how do the four main characters (Antigone, Creon, Ismene and Haemon) justify the positions they take in the play?
Ethical motivation of each character?  See and hear that decides on the way to act. Why do they think that their actions are consistently ethical for them?
Antigone: The religious law is higher than the civic law. She believed that “Death longs for the same rites for all”.
Ismene: A mystery? She did the burial rituals. She may have buried Polynices in secret. Additionally, she felt guilty at some point. Also, she had ethical principles but not necessarily did do so in public.
Creon: Support civic law by giving orders for citizens. He fulfilled the duty as a king.
Haemon:  A mystery? He argued for the will of the people (if it was true). He loved his fiancé Antigone. Also, he loved his fiancé Antigone.

3.      Thirdly, who is the most ethical character in the play?

Creon. He understood clearly his role as a king. He should prioritize the city more than anything else including his friends. Additionally, he was ethical, because he was able to understand his duty and think for the whole city without being influenced by personal emotion.

4.      What is the origin of your ethical orientation?
The origin of my ethical orientation was my knowledge from school and my family.  Some advertisements also taught me some ethics. For instance, I learned from school that we should be happy for helping others, be modest. My family also taught me some ethics by reading me traditional Chinese literature works like Di Zi Gui and Lunyu. For instance, to be honest and sincere to other people. I need to respect the elderly and take good care of those who are younger than us.

An ethical consensus
Common goal, commitment to reaching consensus, trust and openness, sufficient time, clear process, active participation.
During an ethical panel, there should be 1 to 2 facilitators to ensure that the group works harmoniously, creatively and democratically.
