For this week’s essay, I’d like you to critically reflect on the social determinants of health. First, identify a public health issue that you think has an especially social etiology (i.e. cause). You should seek out background information on this issue and include this in your essay, along with an appropriate citation. I highly recommend looking into whether or not the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has a “fact sheet” on this issue. Complete an Internet search as follows: “issue x + CDC fact sheet.” Beyond the background information, however, you will want to outline the social/structural causes and contributors to this issue within your essay.
