Important keystone habit college students should have
Essay one asked you to explain and discuss the habit loop. Now, you’ve read chapters 4 and 5 in The Power of Habit, “Brainology,” and “Why Don’t We Complain?” All of these readings deal with habits (good and bad) and how we break them. This essay will ask you to use those readings to develop an argument about this topic.
Assignment: Answer this question:
What is an important keystone habit college students should have, and how does that one habit lead to student success?
The answer to that question will function as your thesis in this essay, while your body paragraphs will focus on the trickle effect that one habit could have. Try to think of at least three to four positive effects your one keystone habit would have on a student.
Also, please remember that your thesis must be original and should not be a question.
Requirements: Include an introduction that opens with a stipulative, extended or historical definition of your specific keystone habit or of the words “keystone habit.” Please put your definition in bold print. Include at least one outside source to support your claims. You must incorporate at least one of the readings from this week Dughigg chapters 4 “Brainology” “Why Don’t We Complain?” Support your thesis and sub-points with direct quotes, summaries or paraphrases from the readings.
Do not summarize the readings just to summarize them. We have read the texts, too. The readings should be used to explain how your points are right. Do not simply retell what you’ve read. Tips: The prompt asks you to focus on one habit in your thesis, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t many aspects of that habit. Consider, as Duhigg does, outlining the potential effects this one habit may have on other areas in a student’s life–detail why this habit is so essential. 3/3/2020 Keystone Habit
