Rational for assessment plan based on learning objective and standard
To meet the Content Standards it is important to have a basic knowledge of the big picture which in this case is the understanding of the Industrial Revolution in various countries. Students will show they have grasped basic and important material about the Industrial Revolution. To achieve the content Standard it is important to gradually get to the big picture of the Standard that is need ed to be meet. By choosing an assessment that gives the students and myself immediate feedback it is easy to collect data for myself to asses what my next step will be and it will also give the students a chance to see for themselves their own understanding within seconds.
Why did I choose a formative approach based on learners profiles and goals
I chose a formative assessment because I think it is a really great tool for kids to get immediate feedback on what kids know while they are still in the learning process. In my experience in the classroom as an Aid, students get so excited to play Kahoot they don’t even realize that they are being evaluated. I will be able to easily review where intervention needs to take place and an overall understanding of where the class is as a whole. What is great about Kahoot is that it is done in groups or individually so I can narrow down the feedback to each student or the class as a whole. Either way, it is a fun learning tool where kids don’t feel the pressure of being evaluated.
What accommodations support or scaffolds will I use to support 3 focus students?
For Juan I think Kahoot would be the perfect way to improve is social skills. By putting kids into groups and the way the game works they are force d interact with one another in a fun environment it can be good for him. Although he receives accommodations for reading the questions and answers will be read aloud as well as an additional 30 seconds to process the question and answers. This works well for Benji also because it encourages one of his learning needs to interact with others. Lastly, Jun will be partner ed up with a one on one AID so that questions and answer choices can be understood. This will also be a perfect way to get her familiar with the content vocabulary while also improving her academic language.
How will I use my assessment results once they are collect ed?
After a couple rounds of Kahoot, I will be able to identify through the results of the group work and individual work where the class stands in their basic understand of the Industrial Revolution. If I review the results and identify that they are still struggling then I know that I will have to revisit certain topics, vocabular, and concepts. If the results show me otherwise then I know we are good to move forward and expand on their learning to meet the Content Standard. I think this is a great pattern to create and implement throughout the school year. Lastly, I would design different UDL strategies specifically for my students that are struggling.
