Nursing Research Nurse Practitioner

In this course, each of you will be developing a research proposal.

Our focus this week is to identify a problem specific to your role option that is amenable to an innovative solution. Based on your specialty role option (Nurse Practitioner), identify a potential problem (topic) that you would like to investigate through nursing research. Begin by reading the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) position statement on nursing research (Nursing Research).

Next explore South’s Online Library and conduct a search to locate a minimum of three nursing research articles (quantitative articles) that have addressed the problem you have identified. The literature may not be older than 5 years. After reading the literature respond to the following: 1. Note your role specialization and briefly describe the problem you are interested in researching and why this is of interest to you. 2. Discuss your library search strategies and briefly summarize the literature you reviewed. Focus your discussion on the “problem” and how the literature you identified provides evidence of the existence of the problem. 3. Include in your discussion a potential innovation that you might consider as a solution to the problem identified. 4. Include citations/references in APA style format, using citations where appropriate.

Which risk factors of autism can be related to prenatal care

Find two appropriate non-scholarly sources using a search engine such as Google or Bing. Create APA references for the non-scholarly sources. Write annotations for the two non-scholarly sources. Develop a thesis statement based on your research question. The non-scholarly source may be any of these types of sources: A newspaper or magazine article (not an editorial). An article from a professional organization website or trade journal (e.g., science, medical, etc.). An article or report from a .gov website. A blog post written by an expert on the topic. The non-scholarly source may not be A book or book chapter. A scholarly article. A reference source (e.g., encyclopedia, almanac, dictionary). Now, you will write annotation for the two sources. The annotations must be in your own words, two paragraphs long, and address the points below. Provide brief descriptions, explanations or examples to support your answers. Paragraph 1: What kind of source is this? What is the thesis or main claim of the source? What evidence or claims does the source present in support of the thesis? Present at least two examples of support the source uses. What other important claims does the source make? Paragraph 2: Evaluate How adequately does the source support its thesis? How current is the information in the source relative to your research question? How credible and authoritative is the source for your research question? What limitations, if any, did you note in the source? How does the source help answer your research question?

Discussion of nursing advocacy in the clinical setting and the nurse’s role as a patient advocate

Choose a patient-care situation in which the RN should intervene and advocate for the patient. An example of such a situation might be when a patient has not been given complete informed consent. Include the following in your paper: Describe the clinical situation concisely and descriptively. It can be an actual situation or a hypothetical one. Apply the Bioethical Decision Making Model Click for more options to the specific clinical ethical situation that you choose. Address each section of the model in your paper. Management of Chronic Disease Colorectal Cancer

Description

The subject is Colorectal Cancer. Part 2 Part 2 is a 3500 report and comprises 90% of your total mark. You are asked to choose one psychological or physical symptom that may affect a person with your chosen long term condition. You will compare your current practice, in supporting a person to manage the selected symptom, to evidence for best practice. You will make recommendations for future practice. You should use the following marking criteria to guide the structure of your report. Management of Chronic Disease Marking Criteria Report Word Count, Marking % Introduction Set the scene for the report by including a short description of the allocated chronic disease and briefly explaining its aetiology and epidemiology. A search strategy outlining key search terms and databases used, and the relevant results found should be included. Your search strategy can be presented in a table. Word Count = 500 approximately Marking = 10 % Section 1 – Overview An overview of the symptom you plan to explore. Explore how this could affect your patient. The symptom should be clearly identified and linked to your chosen condition. You should consider the impact of the symptom on day to day living. Word Count = 750 approximately Marking = 15% Section 2 – Evaluate 1 assessment tool Evaluate 1 assessment tool (consider advantages/ disadvantages). Tool should be linked to your chosen symptom and reference made to how used within your chosen condition. Word Count = 750 approximately Marking = 20% Section 3 Discussion of current practice Discussion of current nursing practice in supporting patients with the selected symptom, which will include comparison of your current practice to the evidence for best practice. You should discuss the nursing management required to enable the patient to maximise their health and well-being and self-manage their condition. This must demonstrate a holistic approach (physical, emotional, social and spiritual). You should include reference to the support of family/carers and the role of other members of the multidisciplinary team and the voluntary sector where relevant. Word Count = 1000 approximately Marking = 35% Conclusion A summary of key points raised in the report Word Count = 250 approximately Marking = 5% Recommendations (7%) Recommendations for future nursing practice (written in the 1st person). This should be linked to the selected condition or management of chronic diseases. This should be related to your own practice. Word count = 250 approximately Marking= 5% References (5%) In-text citations to support points made and a reference list should be provided in the portfolio, using APA 6th referencing style. Key guidelines to condition should be referenced. Evidence of relevant reading. Marking = 5% Presentation and literary style (5%) Presentation: word-processed; pages numbered; organised as per guidelines for academic work. Literary style: accurate spelling; grammatically correct; fluency. Marking 5% Total Word Count = 3,500 Marking = 100%

Include a literature review as background information for development of your personal decision-making model. Discuss how you would apply ethical theory to your future practice. Discuss potential ethical challenges in your future practice. Your paper should be 7-10 pages long. Cite your sources and format your paper in APA 6 style.

Patient health priorities

Description

Assessment item 1

– Prioritisation of complex patient health issues Objective(s): Learning objective: A, B, C, D and E Graduate Attribute: 2.0, 4.0 and 5.0 Weight: 50% Length: 1500 word limit +/- 10%, excluding references Task: This assessment item has 3 parts: 1. Choose one of the case studies from the lab sessions in Integrated Nursing Practice 92445. State the case study that you have chosen including whether the assignment addresses (morning shift) or (evening shift) of the case study.

Identify a total of five patient health issues from the case study that nurses can address within their scope of practice. You may include ‘risk for’ or ‘potential for’ health issues. Select the three highest priority patient health issues from the five health issues that have been identified. 2. Rank the three patient health issues that were selected in part 1 in order of priority. Provide a rationale for the order of the rankings.

The rationale must be supported with current literature. 3. Outline the nurse’s role in addressing the top three priority patient health issues using assessment, coordination of care and provision of care. Relate the discussion to regulatory frameworks of nursing and health department policies e.g. RN Standards for Practice, NSW health policy, National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards etc. Students need to demonstrate their ability to identify and prioritise patient health issues that nurses can address within their scope of practice, and rationalise the order of priority. This will enable students to articulate decisions they will need to make in clinical practice. In addition, students will be able to demonstrate their ability to write clearly and succinctly to reflect their understanding. Accurate referencing using the ‘Harvard (UTS)’ style is expected – poor referencing will result in loss of marks. Marks may be deducted if the assessment is not within the word limit.
