Cloud Computing : A Comparative study between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure

In the past few years, cloud computing has significantly undergone a shift from value add to a business necessity. The cloud adoption rate among enterprises is on a continuous rise. With many developments in technological innovations, many technology service providers have embraced cloud solutions as one of their flagship solutions. To understand how cloud solutions can transform a business, it is also important to first learn what is cloud and what are its components. As the cloud is a wide collection of technological solutions, organizations need to identify where and also how they can leverage cloud computing.

With the amount of value the cloud computing adds, it is important to classify in which business processes organizations can use it, depending on the organizational goal. One of the most important factors of cloud implementation is deciding what you’re planning to implement. With cloud computing, we have now varied options spread across the three layers of the cloud computing stack: software-as-a-service (SaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS).

Chances are high that you must have heard these terms before. While many may use these terms conversely while referring to cloud computing, the fact is each of these models is part of a much bigger cloud computing stack.

CASE STUDY

Ralph Lorean International (RLI) owner of several house décor and furniture manufacturers recently purchased a controlling interest in a medium-size firm, House of Cloth (HOC), which employs 6,644 people worldwide. HOC has been considered a premier manufacturer of cloth since 1964. Revenues over the last four years have been flat and costs are rising steadily. RLI purchases an interest in the company despite the flat sales because of its reputation and loyal customer base. RLI has a history of turning troubled companies around and they think they can do the same with HOC.

Additionally, RLI has to date allowed HOC to operate independently while they examine closely the causes of the recent poor performance of the company. Areama Cantros, was recently promoted to senior management analyst because of her superb work with Izzy’s Bed Emporium. RLI has decided to send Areama to HOC on a fact-finding mission. She is to discover the challenges facing the management at HOC and make recommendations that will improve and grow significantly HOC’s financial performance.

Computer Science and Computing-Related Fields: What are They and What’s the Difference?

There is a lot of confusion in the general public about what computer science (sometimes referred to as simply “computing”) is and how it is different from allied computing-related fields, such as information systems and computer engineering. These are different fields, with different areas of study and different careers and career prospects. It is important that a student contemplating going into one of these fields know the differences so that he or she can find the field that best suits his or her aptitude, interests, and career goals.

This page addresses the question, “What is Computer Science?”, and discusses its place in the collection of computer science-related fields usually referred to as “computing.”

Conflicts between classmates are a normal part of growing up—but left unchecked, peer problems can interrupt classtime, cause emotional stress, and derail your students’ learning. Giving your students some simple problem-solving tools can help them work through peer conflicts before they interfere with academics and lead to bigger social-emotional challenges.

When something as complex and critical as social-emotional development is on the line, many teachers seek out programs they can work into their existing curricula to support their students’ social-emotional learning. Merrell’s Strong Kids is one of the best—it’s a set of age-appropriate curricula that help students develop the social-emotional skills they need to manage their challenges and succeed in school and life. The new editions are just about to make their debut, and they’re amazing tools for teachers and students.

Evaluate a firm’s strategic action to its overall strategy

This is a paper that is requiring the student to evaluate a firm’s strategic action to its overall strategy. The paper also provides additional information to use in the writing of the assignment paper. Below is the assessment description to follow:

Evaluate a firm’s strategic action to its overall strategy

Consultant’s Report

The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate a firm’s Strategic Action considering its overall Strategy. The current competitive situation it faces, and the pros and cons the action may have on its future. Another purpose of this assignment is to test your knowledge of course terms and concepts. Then translate company actions and press coverage into the language of Strategic Management. Your job is to first summarize the characteristics of industry that is being entered or exploited. Secondly, analyze the protagonist firm’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats before the intended action.

Third, uncover and analyze the benefits and risks of the action considering its strategy. You will need to articulate exactly what their main and secondary strategy is and what kind of action they are using to implement it. Forth, use a strategic tool from the course to highlight the benefits or shortcomings that you intend to use to justify or reject the action the firm is contemplating. Finally write a recommendation that lays out the argument as to why you support or reject the action the company has contemplated.

Evaluate a firm’s strategic action to its overall strategy

You will first need to find an article in the library databases about a public firm that is currently engaging in (or just completing) a strategic action that we have covered  (chapters 6 through 8). Such as a merger, joint venture, internal start-up etc. The article should be no older than 3 months. Also, the action should be current (so no article that covers a transaction that occurred a year ago).

You will use some of the tools we learn in the course to analyze the situation. Such as an Industry Attractiveness scale, Competitive assessment scale, Strategic Fit, 9 Cell, etc. In addition, identify any ethical or issues inherent in the implementation of the strategic action. If you recommend support for the action, what short and long- term implementation issues should they be aware of, or wary of to make the transition run smoothly. If you recommend against the strategic action, explain why.

James Joyce’s Stephen Dedalus imagines history as a nightmare

For your second research project that will be due in Week 14, you will be writing a brief researched essay that will address one aspect of your reading in the second half of the course (Modules 3 & 4).

Your submission must be at least 1000 words in length, and it must incorporate the number of primary sources assigned in the prompt and at least two substantive secondary sources from the library databases (no websites).  Make sure that your analysis includes support from the texts themselves rather than simply a summary of those texts. Finally, you should use proper MLA formatting, including heading, parenthetical citations, and a works cited page.

Choose one of the following options.

1. James Joyce’s Stephen Dedalus imagines history as a “nightmare” from which, he says, “I am trying to awake.” Engagements with history as, broadly speaking, a nightmare—as trauma, as wound, as deprivation—are common in modern and post-modern American literature. Select two works from Module 3 & 4 that engage with, critique, and/or portray American history (Lowell, Faulkner, Wright, Hayden, and/or Jarrell to name a few) and also write an essay in which you compare and also contrast their literary approaches to history.

2. In her study Female Masculinities, Judith Halberstam argues that:

Masculinity in this society inevitably conjures up notions of power and legitimacy and privilege; it often symbolically refers to the power of the state and uneven distribution of wealth…but, obviously, many other lines of identification traverse the terrain of masculinity, dividing its power into complicated differentials of class, race, sexuality, and gender. (2)

Modern American writers have identified and analyzed many of the problems. Also, benefits of modern masculinity through their characters (think Homer Baron, the tinker, Sykes, etc.). Select two to three works from Module 3 & 4 that portray and analyze the problems of modern masculinity. Argue how those problems connect to a larger issue of class, race, sexuality, or gender.

3. In Sylvia Plath and Theatre of Mourning, Christina Bitzolkais states that “Although Plath’s ‘confessional’ tropes are often seen in terms of a Romantic parable of victimization, whether of the sensitive poetic individual crush by a brutally rationalize society.

Or of feminist protest against a monolithic patriarchal oppressor. Her self-reflexivity tends to turn confession into a parody gesture or a premise for theatrical performance.”

This idea of theatre and parody can shed new light on the quest for self. Also, the role of the individual in a problematic society that we see in Plath and Ginsburg. We have seen this quest before in the poetry of Whitman and Dickinson as well. How can the idea of parody. Furthermore, theatre help to unpack the quest for self in the poetry of these four poets? What ideas of self and society have changed in the hundred years plus that separates them? What has stayed the same? Are these poets demonstrating that we as a nation of individuals are still having the same problems?

4. According to the biography of Audre Lorde in our textbook, her poetry wages a “‘war against the tyrannies of silence’; it articulates what has been pass over out of fear of discomfort, what has been kept hidden and secret” (1490). This war could be against racist practices, a patriarchal society, government control, the boundaries of society as a whole, etc. This “war against silence” can be seen in much of the poetry and fiction we have read during Module 3 & 4. Additionally, using the entry point of a “war against the tyranny of silence,” discuss a social action pushed by two or three of the works we have read in Module 3 & 4. How did this work fight against the tyranny in its time of publication and how is it (or isn’t it) fighting against that tyranny today?

Create a web application to manage the donors similar to CRM

This is a paper that is focusing on the student to create a web application to manage the donors similar to CRM. The paper also provides additional information to use in the writing of the assignment paper. Below is the assessment description to follow:

Create a web application to manage the donors similar to CRM

Scenario: You are working as a system analyst for a non-profit organization whose financials are mostly from donations. You are thinking to create a Web application to manage the donors, similar to a CRM (customer relationship management) system. So, let’s call it a DRMS (Donor Relationship Management System).

What to do: Imagine you were hired as a system analyst, based on the SDLC framework and materials you learn from this class, write up a short paper (less than 5 pages, double spacing) for the followings:

1. Describe what you will do for each step in SDLC up to implementation. You will need to relate the steps to the DRMS. For example, who are the users of DRMS and what are its functional requirements? You do not need to actually do the design such as the DFD, UI and ERD. But you should describe what they are and what you expect them to be.

2. SDLC is only a framework. As stated in Chapter 1, you will need a process model to execute it. What exactly is a process model? What process model, e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Spiral, etc. will you adopt and why?

Remember, ensure that the pages are exclusive of the cover and the reference pages. Also, ensure that you include all the references you use in finding research for this assignment paper. References should be at least three for the paper. All references, citation, and writing should follow the APA formatting and styling guidelines. Finally, ensure you focus on the assignment topic in detail.

Ensure that you follow the instructions provided keenly. Marking of the assignment is on how you do the task and how you submit the assignment too. In case of any question feel free to ask your instructor for more guidelines before doing the assignment.

Your task is to create two logos for this new client and submit a video presentation for the marketing team to review. Create an original, American-style logo, and then create a more globalized version of that logo. Since most of the company’s global clients come from India, design the global logo to reflect the visual preferences that might appeal to that specific global audience.

When designing the logos, utilize the following visual communication elements:
Firstly, Logo size
Secondly, Logo color scheme
Thirdly, Logo symbols/symbolism
Finally, Logo iconic meaning

They have also sent an email stating the following items need to be addressed:

The main objective is to present your two logos and address how they strategically and effectively use the visual communication elements itemized.

Be sure to compare and contrast how differently American and Indian target audiences may respond to these logos.
Discuss why your marketing organization should consider the importance of using the visual elements you visually designed for these logos. Rubric reates an American logo which thoroughly uses visual communication elements: size, color, symbolism, iconic meaning. Creates an Indian logo which thoroughly uses visual communication elements: size, color, symbolism, iconic meaning. Thoroughly compares and contrasts how American and Indian target audiences respond differently to logos.

Course Material and Research

This project requires you to do research on the Internet. You are to use course material going beyond defining terms. You are expected to explain the ‘why and how’ of a situation. Avoid merely making statements but close the loop of the discussion by explaining how something happens or why something happens, which focuses on importance and impact. In closing the loop, you will demonstrate the ability to think clearly and rationally showing an understanding of the logical connections between the course material and the question(s). Additionally, using one or two in-text citations from the course material throughout the entire paper will not earn many points on the assignment. Subsequently, the support must be relevant and applicable to the topic discussion. Points are not for mentioning a term or concept but by clearly and thoroughly explaining or discussing the question at hand.
