Black White and Jewish

Description In Rebecca Walker’s Black White and Jewish. This coming-of-age autobiography explores many concepts of identity, race, family, belonging/acceptance, friendship, love, etc. During the reading, we have explored passages, concepts, themes, conflicts, relationships, symbols, etc.

In this essay, make a significant claim about a concept/theme/conflict/relationship/symbol/etc. from the text and use critical analysis of the text to argue it. You are expected to make an argument and use a specific argument pattern (narrative, illustration, compare and contrast) to make your argument.

For this essay, you can use any argument pattern/style that you wish and you can also mix patterns (this is called a “mixed” argument pattern) to make your argument. This is a full essay and should contain a snappy title, an introductory paragraph that contains a hook, background/context and a strong thesis (thesis/claim/controlling central idea); a series of body paragraphs with topic sentences, quotes, and analysis; and a concluding paragraph. It should be approximately 3-5 pages typed and double-spaced and cited and documented in MLA Format.

why does greater income equality make societies stronger

This will be a paper of 1500–2000 words. Take a position for or against the fundamental argument of the course text, The Spirit Level, that “greater equality makes societies stronger.” Use course materials and other information to substantiate your arguments. The text talks about the effect of income equality on health and social problems and the effect of income inequality on crime, corrections, and imprisonment. Do you think these are valid and substantial arguments? Think about examples of integrating justice and actions which may move a society towards social justice. What are the implications for justice personnel? How might their role change in a more equal society? A position paper is an excellent method of developing a logical argument either for or against a particular position on an issue of importance. It enables both the writer and the reader to engage in a logical discussion on a variety of topics by examining both the negative and positive aspects of a position. Position Paper Format: Introduction with a statement of issue starting with the stem: “Should … or “To what extent should …” Statement of Position Defence of Position Alternative Value Positions/Opposing Arguments Conclusion

Tata Starbucks

Description Document Formatting: Times-Roman 12 point font Double-Spaced 1” margins all around Maximum of three pages Header with Your Name and page number at top of each page; no cover page No footnotes, citations, or references; only original content written by you. Include question number and short description as section heading (e.g. Question 1: Value Proposition). Strive to be clear, concise, and to-the-point. Answers should be brief, but complete. We’ve all read the case, so there is no need to repeat a lot of extraneous background. Just include what you need to support your argument. Questions: Why partner with Tata instead of going it alone? As noted in the case, Starbucks had originally planned on entering the Indian market via FDI but they ended up forming Tata Starbucks as a joint venture with Tata Beverages instead. Briefly explain the difference between FDI and joint ventures as the means of entering a foreign market including how they differ with respect to cost, control, risks, and benefits. Describe two valuable resources or capabilities that Tata Beverages brings to the partnership. “Domestic Demand Conditions” analysis of India. With a focus on Starbucks’ industry – hospitality, café’, quick-service restaurant, or however you would define it — provide a brief summary of how you would describe India (relative to the rest of the world) using the “Domestic Demand Conditions” category of Porter’s “Diamond of National Advantage.” This would presumably include demographics, income constraints, and competitive intensity. “Factor Conditions” analysis of India. As noted in the case, southern India – and Tata Beverages in particular – has a rich history as a source of coffee. However, coffee is not the only resource necessary for profitably running a chain of coffee shops. Provide a brief summary of how you would describe India (relative to the rest of the world) using the “Factor Conditions” category of Porter’s “Diamond of National Advantage.” You may need to also touch on “Related and Supporting Industries” to address all of the significant input costs for a coffee café’. Recommendations Consider the menu, service model and physical design for the typical Starbucks location in the United States (e.g. “premium” brewed coffee and a wide variety of espresso-based beverages; nearly all equipment and most supplies and ingredients sourced from the Starbucks corporate global supply-chain; “premium” pricing; “third-space” atmosphere with a lot of carry-out and drive-through business; providing industry-leading pay and benefits for store employees; etc.). A “global” approach to its international expansion strategy would involve doing things the same way in India as in the U.S., but Starbucks has already demonstrated its willingness to adapt to local preferences and culture as it expanded to Japan and China. Briefly describe three adaptations to the business model and strategy that you believe will be necessary to succeed in India. Make sure you clearly explain how the Indian business would be different from the U.S. business in each of the three areas you’ve identified for adaptation. Note that the Indian market may comprise more than one distinct group of customers which would require you to choose which market segment you are targeting with your recommended adaptations.

Analyzing data what data might you want to have to analyze the model

Write a response briefly summarizing what we learned for that section of the course and applying it to the reading from Poitier, Niliwaambieni, and Rowe (1997). Your job is to essentially design a study (or at least your part of the study) that would test the efficacy of this approach. Each of you will be assigned a section and you will do a brief summary of what we have learned and then apply that to the model you learn about. Here is the list of who will present what: Please note, you do not need to collaborate with each other for this assignment if you are paired. To summarize, after reviewing the Poitier et al. article, here is what you will do with your section: Briefly review the section you are assigned; Propose how you apply what you have learned to a new study. For example, Jasmin Privott has focused research questions. They would BRIEFLY review that section with us (no more than ONE paragraph) and then they would propose a hypotheses or research question that might be used in the study and justify why it is a good fit. Here is the follow up prompt with no alteration: Respond by Day 5 to a colleague’s postings with a suggestion, insight, or addition to that particular step of the research process. If this is unclear, do not hesitate to write or call me. This week should be a review of what we have covered. Dr. Melius Reference Poitier, V. L., Niliwaambieni, M., & Rowe, C. (1997).
