Decide whether Paula Plaintiff has any legal claims arising

Paula’s bad luck continues. Five days after the events detailed in your last assignment, Paula returns to work at Capstone Corporation. Unfortunately, she used her company e-mail to send her mom a personal note about her injuries, despite being aware that Capstone’s company policy prohibits use of company e-mail for personal communication. Paula’s supervisor, Mikey Manager, discovers Paula’s violation and Paula is reprimanded. When Paula goes home, she uses her personal computer to post disparaging comments about her boss and Capstone Corporation on social media. The next day, Paula is fired from her job.

After several days of bad luck, Paula believes her luck is about to change. She finds a new job in a nearby town. Paula had been using the bus to go to work at Capstone Corporation, but she will need to purchase a car to commute to her new job. Fortunately, her neighbor Freddy Ford has just purchased a new vehicle and is selling his old Mustang. Paula meets with Freddy and agrees to purchase the Mustang for $1000. The parties also agree that Paula will bring Freddy the money the next day when she picks up the car. The next day, Paula calls Freddy and says, “I have the money. I’d like to come pick up my car.” Freddy replies that Paula is too late. He sold the car earlier in the day.

Biological Theories of Gender

to biological differences between males and females. For example, chromosomes (female XX, male XY), reproductive organs (ovaries, testes), hormones (oestrogen, testosterone).

Gender refers to the cultural differences expected (by society / culture) of men and women according to their sex. A person’s sex does not change from birth, but their gender can.

In the past people tend to have very clear ideas about what was appropriate to each sex and anyone behaving differently was regard ed as deviant.

Today we accept a lot more diversity and see gender as a continuum (i.e. scale) rather than two categories. So men are free to show their “feminine side” and women are free to show their “masculine traits”.

The biological approach suggests there is no distinction between sex & gender, thus biological sex creates gendered behavior. Additionally, gender is determine by two biological factors: hormones and chromosomes.

Social Constructionism

Social constructionism is the theory that people develop knowledge of the world in a social context, and that much of what we perceive as reality depends on shared assumptions. From a social constructionist perspective, many things we take for granted and believe are objective reality are actually socially construct, and thus, can change as society changes.

Origins

The theory of social constructionism was introduced in the 1966 book The Social Construction of Reality, by sociologists Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckman. Berger and Luckman’s ideas were inspired by a number of thinkers, including Karl MarxEmile Durkheim, and George Herbert Mead. In particular, Mead’s theory symbolic interactionism, which suggests that social interaction is responsible for the construction of identity, was highly influential.

Qualitative data is helpful to generate a hypothesis and gather information

Data can be qualitative or quantitative. Qualitative data is helpful to generate a hypothesis and gather information if little is known about an expected association. Focus groups, key informant interviews, and case studies are types of qualitative data collection methods used to identify common themes from which to build a hypothesis.

Quantitative data collection and analysis is use d to test a hypothesis and make comparisons to determine the direction and strength of a potential association. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is cross-sectional panel survey use d to collect quantitative data on adult behaviors and risk factors. It is one of the largest U.S. health data collection efforts. The data can be use to analyze associations on a state or country level. Follow the steps to obtain a 2×2 contingency table (also known as a “cross tabulation”) crossing binge drinking with depression.

Firstly, retrieve the “BRFSS Web-Enabled Analysis Tool” resource provided in the Topic Materials.

Secondly, select “Cross Tabulation.”

Thirdly, select “2015” for the year.

Fourthly, select “Arizona” for the state.

Further, select “Alcohol Consumption: Binge drinkers (males having five or more drinks on one occasion, females having four or more drinks on one occasion)” for Step 2 Select Row.

Additionally, select “Chronic Health Conditions: Ever diagnosed with a depressive disorder, including depression, major depression, dysthymia, or minor depression” for Step 3 Select Column.

Also, skip Steps 4 and 5.

Finally, select “Sample Size” for Step 6 Select Statistics and run the report for the cross tabulation.

Part 1

Using the data from the cross tabulation results, calculate the odds ratio for depression among those exposed to binge drinking. Interpret the odds ratio and discuss if the odds ratio is a good estimate of the relative risk in this situation. Why or why not? Show your 2×2 table and all calculations. Present or describe the formula you used to arrive at your answer.

Part 2
Use the Topic Material, “BRFSS Web-Enabled Analysis Tool,” located on the CDC website, and run a report for two variables of interest to you. Create a 2×2 table and calculate the odds ratio for this association. Additionally, Interpret the odds ratio and discuss the public health importance of the association. Show your 2×2 table. Present or describe the formula you used to arrive at your answer.

Refer to the “Creating a 2×2 Contingency Table” resource for guidance in creating 2×2 contingency tables.

If you argue that foreign aid should be increased, then explain why, or for what purposes?

This paper is on If you argue that foreign aid should be increased, then explain why, or for what purposes? Should all or only certain countries receive more foreign aid?

If you argue that foreign aid should be increased then explain why or for what purposes

If you argue that foreign aid should be increased, then explain why, or for what purposes? Should all or only certain countries receive more foreign aid? Is there any evidence that foreign aid can be effective in achieving these purposes, or goals? Be sure to address the counter-arguments that foreign aid has not been effective in promoting economic development.

If you argue that foreign aid should be decreased, then explain the basis for this recommendation. Should it be decreased for all countries or only for a certain set? What evidence is there that foreign aid has been ineffective at promoting economic development? Be sure to respond to the argument that foreign aid has been effective at promoting economic growth in the countries that have received it.

Your paper should be structured in three parts, and you will be graded based on this structure.

The first part is a one-paragraph introduction where you clearly state your basic argument. The second part of the paper (~2+ pages) then develops your argument in more detail, citing the evidence from the assigned papers. The third part (~1+ pages) should address the contrary arguments from the assigned papers.

Your paper should include a title page with your name and a title (this is page zero and does not count towards your page limit). The text of your paper is limited to 4 double-spaced pages (please use pagination; if we have to count your pages, then you will lose points), using a 12-point font with 1-inch margins. Your TA will stop reading after 4 pages, so any information on additional pages will not count towards your grade.

You must find a way to cite all five assigned papers, using the last name, date, and a page number if possible. [If you use the author’s words, then you must include quotation marks or this is plagiarism.] On a fifth page, please provide a bibliography with a full cite for each paper. This citation must be complete enough that someone outside of our class could find and locate each paper. You are allowed to cite other papers that were not assigned, but they cannot substitute for the five that were assigned.

Finally, you must upload to Canvas an electronic version of your paper by the start of the recitation section when it is due (and the readings will be discussed). Late papers will be penalized. Using the Turnitin feature, Canvas will check your paper’s originality (i.e., has it been written before and how much does it use the words of other writers?). Unoriginal papers will receive a 0 grade as a violation of the honor code

Effects of the covid 19 pandemic on the poultry industry

More details;

Covid-19 Effects of Poultry Farming; A Behaviour Response

As the world battles the Covid-19 pandemic with health focussed measures such as hand washing, social distancing and personal protection equipment, the developing world has to make an extra consideration; food security.

Zero Hunger by 2030 is the second of the sustainable development goals. In 2016/2017 FAO classified  approximately 27.4% of the population in Africa as severely food insecure. This is almost four times as high as any other region and was before the Covid-19 crisis disrupted food supply chains in both rural and urban localities in Kenya. Even though food has been identified as an essential service to be provided. Local media reports that due to the Covid-19 crisis small and medium scale husbandry. Poultry production farmers have cut their production by more than 50%.

This raises red flags on the ripple effect this will have on supply of meat and eggs during this period. Part of the focus of securing food supply as an essential service is to provide access to nutrient diversity that is paramount in immunity of a population. Poultry meat and eggs are rich and also readily available sources of protein.  With lowered production, limited availability is inevitable which will likely result in prices going up.

The effect of disrupting the agricultural market supply chains was observed in 2014, with the Ebola outbreak where restrictions and market closures disrupted flows of food and necessities. Additionally, shortages of goods led to an increase in prices of key commodities. The nutritional impact was predominantly attributable to reduced food access driven by a reduction in economic activity that reduced families’ purchasing power.
