Importance of the Annual Strategic Plan Update

Firstly, please read the directions carefully and follow them.

Secondly, please use APA format correctly.

This week you read about the importance of the Annual Strategic Plan Update. This weeks assignment will give you the opportunity to do some research, and create a update for a retreat that you will be planning.

Further, you should develop a plan to discuss where the retreat will happen. Who will be invite d. What process method you will use. What are the reasons/benefits of each of these that you chose.

The next part is to actually provide an annual update. For this assignment, please research Johns Hopkins Medicine Strategic Plan. You will see that it is broken out into several Strategic Priorities. Read through them, and also research some of the major health care changes that will impact their plan.

As an example, if one of their strategic priority is “Education”, with a goal of creating a portal for its constituencies to access health information, and you are aware that health care reform is focused on wellness, and also incentivizing providers to keep patients healthy, your annual update may be to have a goal of creating a comprehensive portal by the end of the year that includes specific information for a patient related to their illness, or wellness information for those patients with no active disease state.  You can be creative with your goal, but make sure that it is relevant to part of their strategic plan, and the external health care forces acting on it.

Identify the institution you will analyze in your research paper

Journalism/ new media
The goal of this paper is to identify the institution you will analyze in your research paper and give an overview of what you know about this institution’s background and the challenges it faces. This is an informal piece of writing. Do some reading, on the internet or in the American Institutions folder on our Blackboard site, gather your thoughts about what you have read and how you might approach it in a research paper, organize and write down those thoughts? Even though this is informal, you may be looking at and using sources you will want to include in your final paper.

Include rough citations (such as the name of the article in parentheses) for specific ideas and information that you use, and include a list of your sources. For this piece, it doesn’t need to be in a specific style, as long as you can relocate the article and connect it to its place in your work.

The details in the paragraph below is something I want to try and have in the paper.

I decided that I will be writing my research paper on the American institution of journalism/media. To begin the paper, I plan to talk about a little bit of how journalism and media plays a role in how the American people get their information weather that be from a newspaper or from the news. In today’s day and age everyone gets their information from either their local news station or from their most liked social media platform like Facebook or twitter.

But the news they receive is not trusted sometimes. I intend to talk about how getting news from creditable sources is very valuable.  Will try to implement the background of journalism and media how they use ethos, pathos, and logos in everything that is spoken about. I will also try to speak about how the categories in journalism and keys of social media.

I will also try and compare different media types and how a post from Facebook can be very different from a post from twitter for example. By receiving different types of new can either play a positive effect or negative effect on how the reader receives the message.

I will then try to talk about how the government and politics adds stress on the media and journalist. For example, in the presidential election we see plenty of advertisements that twist the words of the other candidate to try and persuade the people. That is just one of the many ways that the government and politics can have a role in the media.

Write a topic on political economy as heart of the argument

This is a paper that is focusing on write a topic on political economy as heart of the argument. The paper also provides additional information to use in writing the assignment paper clearly.

Write a topic on political economy as heart of the argument

You will write on a topic of your choosing, but please be sure that political economy is at the heart of your argument and that you link your argument to the academic debates in global environmental politics

Explain your argument and how it will address the problem you identify. Your argument should be nuanced and sophisticated (i.e., not too obvious) and specific (i.e., not an over-generalization). Your argument should not make an obvious, general claim such as “political interests matter” or “corporations are powerful.” Be sure to identify possible alternative arguments to yours and how you plan to address them.

150-word abstract on the first page: use original wording in the abstract (i.e., do not cut-and-paste from the main text). You must provide a computer word count on your cover sheet. Do not include your endnotes (or footnotes), references, or abstract in the overall word count. (All references should be cited at least once; please rely on at least 15 different references, being sure to fact-check and update all statistics you use in the essay.)

Please ensure that at least half of your references in your bibliography are to political science books and journal articles (such as articles in the journals Global Environmental Politics or International Organization and books in the environmental politics series at MIT Press and Polity Press).

Try to develop a robust answer by, for example, looking for variation across cases/countries and by weaving in appropriate theories and/or analytical concepts (e.g., shadows of consumption; eco-business; compromise of liberal environmentalism; transnational activist networks; norms and norm diffusion; the ‘boomerang’ strategy; ecomodernism; individualization of responsibility; environmentalism of the rich; corporatization of activism; eco-consumerism; environmental racism; ecological imperialism; environmental justice, etc.)

Our world has recently been turned upside down because of the Corona Virus

Our world has recently been turn ed upside down because of the Corona Virus. But as you have learned, challenging and unprecedented times often give us extraordinary opportunities for innovation and creativity to positively impact society.

Please discuss an innovative solution to a problem that you or someone in your community have experienced this spring and summer. For example, I have spent a lot of time thinking about how the costly, on-ground, traditional 4-year college model might change permanently as a result of the somewhat sudden and chaotic transition mid-term from face-to-face to online. You might also want to take a quick read about how a SC entrepreneur adapted his business to print face masks (see file attached below). What have you pondered? As they say, never waste a good crisis!

After you have posted, please reply to at least one other student’s response. Your original post should be 3-4 paragraphs in length. Describe the problem you are solving, how you plan to solve it, and a brief summary of its impact on your customers.

I am NOT looking for ideas that take advantage of the situation or consumers or any form of price gouging. I am looking for information about leveraging innovation and technology to solve problems such as continued education, healthcare, social distancing, etc based on the current event.

If you recall, early in the semester, one of the methods we discuss for developing new business ideas was observing trends. This is a great example of this method.

-Kids should (or should not) be bribed to get good grades
-Cigarettes should (or should not) be illegal
-The popularity of plastic surgery is good (or bad) for America’s youth
-Violent video games cause (or do not cause) negative behavior

Remember to state your position clearly and support it with as much evidence as possible, and keep in mind that a persuasive essay, though using the skills of argument covered in your text, does not make use of insults or accusations to change readers’ minds.  Be sure to make use of the tips covered in your book, and remember to properly cite any sources you utilize.

As always, please double-space your work and type it in 12-point font, and include your name, the date, the assignment, the class name and time, and your title at the top of the essay.
