Autobiography Essay For Maya Angelou and Frederick Douglas

Read the selections “My Guilt” by Maya Angelou and the autobiographical account of the life of Frederick Douglass.

The poem written by Angelou reflects her guilt for not standing up for what she deems is a just cause, particularly the issue of Civil Rights. (Maya Angelou was a contemporary writer).

Douglass gives his first-person account, and he narrates the events that cause him to rise up against injustice, in his case, life as a slave. In a well-written essay, analyze the purpose, tone, style, and rhetorical stance of each author. Include your personal reflections on the selections. Include examples of others who have either chosen to stand up for a cause or felt guilty because of their reluctance to act (such as, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Oskar Schindler, and Nelson Mandela).

To what Extent did Latinos influence the 2012 Presidential Election

On this paper I want to discuss the historical context of latino voters and their participation toward voting, giving way to a clear understanding on how they were able to influence the 2012 election.

I have two case studies that I want to use in my paper, the first one being California and the Second being New Mexico, these states will help bolster my argument on how the latino vote influenced the 2012 election.

My professor doesn’t want me to copy and poste quotes from the article but rather paraphrase them and list where I got the source from.****

Discussion on Canvas

The textbook that should be used for this paper is “Ethical Issues in Business A Philosophical Approach 8thedition” The analysis should be based on the textbook mentioned above from pages, (66 to 89) (34-53) (78-89) (56-66) (172-176) (143-150) (163-171) (256-263) (222-238) (136-142) Also one more source, does not matter what. · to show the prevalence of business ethics issues in our society and how difficult they can be to resolve · get students to use the skills/terms acquired in this class to analyze “real life” contemporary business ethics situations Objectives: · to show the prevalence of business ethics issues in our society and how difficult they can be to resolve · get students to use the skills/terms acquired in this class to analyze “real life” contemporary business ethics situations example dilemmas/issues: A dilemma is a case where what is right or wrong is unclear. The following are some good examples of issues/dilemmas: · If we limit the number and kinds of ads run during children’s programming, it will have an impact on the quantity and quality of programming; but if we do not, then children will be exposed at an early age to ads that can/will influence their growing minds. · If we allow fracking, it will loosen our dependence on foreign sources of oil, but it will greatly impact the environment. · The ethics of potential employers using personality exams that are very invasive. · The ethics a boss taking the credit for work that a worker did. · Libre By Nexus Bail Bonds helps undocumented residents to get out of jail but makes millions and their customers are fitted with a tracking device. · The issue of whether employers should screen potential candidates’ social media sites. · The practice of airlines overbooking · The practice of companies laying off employees to save costs · There are many dilemmas/issues; feel free to run one by me if you are not sure whether it is a good one or not. · Be sure to present on a case where what is right or wrong is not obvious; so any case where there is clear fraud, lying, cheating, stealing, etc. is a case of clear wrong doing and is not appropriate for this assignment. · Make it a recent issue from within the last year, and make sure the issue is business ethics. Again, this is not a general moral issues assignment, but a business ethics assignment. So, abortion, the death penalty, euthanasia, etc. are all important issues, but are not business ethics issues. Structure: · post up an interesting business ethics issue/dilemma in the appropriate Discussion on Canvas · note: the issue must be business-related: abortion, capital punishment, the border wall, etc. are all important and interesting issues, but are not business ethics issues. See page 2 for some examples of business ethics issue · post up an issue that is not a slam dunk case of wrongdoing: post a case that is “morally ambiguous”—one that can be seen from two or more angles · leave a link to an online article/story and then briefly summarize the issue you have selected · analyze the issue: break the issue down and show the different ways of seeing the issue · be a neutral reporter; it is natural to lean to one side and it’s okay to indicate that, but try to steer clear of moralizing · relate the issue to the material you have been exposed to in this class: course notes, PowerPoints, and assigned readings · refer to the theories and authors from our class textbook · respond in a substantive and meaningful way to two classmates papers it’s fine to compliment what they have written, but also be constructively critical: point out an area where the paper could have been improved or was off the mark. point out grammar mistakes, formatting, spelling; anything that in your opinion would go to improve their paper. Maybe they need to add more references to course material, or better explain the references that are there. Basically, find something that needs to be improved and “gently” let them know. · if the response to classmate is of adequate length but missing constructive criticism, that will result in a -2 penalty. · comment—in two full paragraphs— directly on what your classmate wrote; and say what your own thoughts on the issue that they presented are Format: · post up your issue/dilemma in the appropriate Discussion on Canvas; cut and paste it into the body of the discussion rather than attaching it as a document · Include an informal works referenced/cited page; include the page number for references to our textboo

Assignment One -Budget Planning and Control

Assignment One -Budget Planning and Control

Watch this video first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frh3I2rVDzs Babycakes, a specialty bakery, is the company that will be considered for all parts of your budget planning and control report.

For this assignment, you will develop a 3–4-page paper in which you address the following. Briefly discuss the ways a realistic budget will benefit the owner of Babycakes versus no budget at all. Be sure to use Babycakes as the company and any specific product details in your explanation. Prepare a sales budget for the LA Babycakes store for the fourth quarter of 2016.

Present the number of units, sales price, and total sales for each month; include October, November, and December, and the total for the quarter. Use one-half of Valentine’s Day sales as the basis for a usual day in the new quarter. Use 30 days for each month. Calculate the total sales for each month for October, November, and December. Create three new products, one for each of the three holiday seasons in the fourth quarter. Estimate the sales units, sales price, and total sales for each month.

Describe the assumptions used to make these estimates. Include an overview of the budget in the report, presenting the actual budget as an appendix with all the data and calculations. Add these amounts to your sales budget. The owner of Babycakes is interested in preparing a flexible budget rather than the static budget she currently uses. She does not understand why, when sales increase, her static budget often shows an unfavorable variance.

Explain how a flexible budget will overcome this problem. Use the details of your newly prepared budget for the fourth quarter of 2016 to address her concern. Imagine that Babycakes is facing a financial challenge that is causing the actual amount of money that it spends to become significantly more than its budgeted amount. Include a discussion of your own unique cause of the overspending.

Explain the corrective actions needed to address these challenges. Integrate relevant information from at least three quality academic resources in this assignment.
