Shared Values

Organizational values are the foundation of how an organization begins. Initially, the entrepreneur’s values form the foundations of the organization. They guide the many processes that enable success. Through the growth of the organization, the values, visions, and mission change and grow with the organization. Having a proper set of foundations for all activities within the organization drives people’s behaviors. Unfortunately, many organizations have values and vision statements that are used only for marketing. You’ll take a closer look to see how and if such foundation statements are applied in your organization. Using the same organization, you selected from Week 1 discussion, evaluate the shared values, vision, and mission statements of the organization. Critically assess how these statements were created. Consider: What are the organization’s values as presented in a values statement (or otherwise communicated)? Was the creation of the shared values statement done by a select group of individuals or all individuals? How accurate are the values (i.e., single words representing a value or specific actions that reflected a value?) What is the organization’s vision statement? How was the vision statement created? How inspiring is the vision statement? What is the organization’s mission statement? How does the mission statement clarify the purpose of the organization? How does the mission statement align with the vision statement? With the values statement? If the organization fails to have any of these statements, explore the organizational challenges that resulted in the lack of these foundational elements. The final paragraph (three or four sentences) of your first post should summarize the one or two key points that you are making in your initial response.

Human Resource Management – Critical Thinking

Learning Exercise 1- Chapter 12 You are a manager for a furniture manufacturer in High Point, NC. A number of your employees have come to you and told you that they should receive additional benefits. Your company currently offers the following: health care insurance for which the employee pays one-third of the premium and the company pays two-thirds, dental insurance and vision care at no cost to the employee, and reduced-cost parking. Also, employees receive accidental death and dismemberment insurance and long-term disability insurance at no cost to them. Most employees receive 8 sick days per year that can be used only for illness, and 10 vacation days after three years at the company. The employees want you to provide the following: Reduced-cost child care Legal resources Long-term care insurance Short-term disability Twenty personal leave days that they can take at any time (to replace the current sick days and vacation days) The employees are telling you that these benefits are provided by other companies in the area. Develop a plan of action for how you would respond in this situation. Outline what steps you would take, including where you would find relevant information and the options that would be available to you if you are (1) in a large company with a compensation and benefits staff in a human resources department and (2) if you are a small business owner. Provide documentation of the research you do to find benefits data for the software industry and the specific location. Are there additional benefits you identified that some companies are offering that you could/should also offer? Learning Exercise 2- Chapter 13 To learn more about the benefits of union membership, identify and interview someone who is a member of a union. In your interview, address at least the following questions. How long have you been a member of the union? Why did you join the union? How has being a union member affected your job, including what you are required to do and your promotion opportunities? What has been the biggest advantage to you as a union member? Would you advise other workers to join the union? Why or why not?

Anti-Phishing Training

Training courses have evolved from traditional–read material, take an assessment—courses where the participant realizes and is conscious that they are being trained to simulations that may not inform the user ahead of time that the material they are reviewing (a phishing email attempt for example) is not real and was sent to them by their organization or on behalf of their organization. Review the use of Anti-Phishing training tools as a training aid by reading the Carnegie Mellon study: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~jasonh/publications/soups2009-school-of-phish-final.pdf Also, read the CSO article from the following link: http://www.csoonline.com/article/3066532/techology-business/10-companies-that-can-help-you-fight-phishing.html Write a report and Your paper should include the following information: – One paragraph introduction to the tools and explain why they are being used. – A discussion of the following two questions: 1.Are there ethical boundaries that might be crossed by attempting to ‘trick’ employees to take the bait and open a phishing email? 2. Are there any negative consequences that organizations should consider of circulating phishing emails to test employees, and if so, what can the organizations do to reduce these effects? – Give a high level overview of a user training program that could be used to handle training a small staff. It should include: 1.Overview of the training 2.Purpose of the training 3. Time needed for the training 4.Type of training 5. Assessment of the training

Spirituality and Social Work Practice

Submit a 2- to 4-page paper that answers the following questions: As Eboni’s social worker, would you include spirituality and religion in your initial assessment? Why or why not? What strategies can you use to ensure that your personal values will not influence your practice with Eboni? How would you address the crisis that Eboni is experiencing? Support your Assignment with specific references to the resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references. Being culturally sensitive by respecting your clients’ spirituality and religious traditions, in general, is an important professional competence (Furness & Gilligan, 2010). Applying your spiritual awareness to a specific client case, however, may require even greater skill. In this assignment, you consider how you might address a client’s crisis that includes a spiritual or religious component. To prepare for this Assignment, review this week’s media about Eboni Logan’s visit with her school social worker. Analysis of Position Papers for School-Based Treatment of Childhood Obesity

Description

Professional Context: Position papers are a way for individuals, groups, and organizations to express their views and intentions toward a specific issue. In health care, many position papers address specific policies, regulations, or other approaches to care. As a master’s-prepared nurse, you should feel empowered to express and advocate for your own views on policy and care matters. This is especially important when it comes to populations you or your organization cares for that are not receiving the quality, type, or amount of care that they require. An important skill in creating a position paper or policy proposal is the ability to analyze and synthesize others’ views about the population or issue of interest to you. By synthesizing the positive and negative views of an issue, you can become better equipped to strengthen your own arguments and to respond to opposing views in an informed and convincing way. Scenario: For this assignment, pretend you are a member of an interprofessional team that is attempting to improve the quality of health care and the outcomes for obese children. For the first step in your team’s work, you have decided to conduct an analysis of current position papers that address school-based childhood obesity treatment and prevention programs. In your analysis you will note the team’s initial views on the issue in the population as well as the views across a variety of relevant position papers. You have been tasked with finding the most current standard of care or evidenced-based practice and evaluating both the pros and cons of the issue. For the opposing viewpoints, it is important to discuss how the team could respond to encourage support. This paper will be presented to a committee of relevant stakeholders from your care setting and the community. If it receives enough support, you will be asked to create a new policy that could be enacted to improve the outcomes related to your chosen issue and target population Instructions: Explain your position with regard to health outcomes for childhood obesity (see position statement) Explain the role of the interprofessional team in facilitating improvements for treating and preventing childhood obesity. Evaluate the evidence and positions of others that could support a team’s approach to improving the quality and outcomes of care. Evaluate the evidence and positions of others that are contrary to a team’s approach to improving the quality and outcomes of care. Communicate an initial viewpoint regarding the issue and a synthesis of existing positions in a logically structured and concise manner. Integrate relevant sources (within 5 years) to support assertions, correctly formatting citations, and references using APA style.

Position Statement: Childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions resulting in a lower quality of life among children with obesity as compared to children of normal weight. School based obesity prevention and treatment interventions are effective and can enable children to avoid co-morbidities of obesity, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and depression thereby improving their quality of life.

GIS and Emergency Management

Description

In the final paper, students will be required to research any technology used in emergency management that we discussed in class. After researching how a specific technology is being used in all phases of emergency management, students will be required to write a 12-14 page paper containing their findings. They will need to include specific cases in which these technologies were deployed or used in a natural disaster in the last 5 years. In describing the cases, students need to evaluate the effectiveness of the technologies and discuss any challenges to interoperability or any other barriers that were faced by emergency managers. Finally, students should highlight how these technologies are changing and might be used 5 to 10 years from now by emergency managers. Basics Writing Requirements: The final paper must demonstrate both breadth and depth of knowledge and critical thinking appropriate to graduate level scholarship. It must follow APA Publication Manual guidelines and be free of typographical, spelling and grammatical errors. The paper should be 12-15 pages in length (double spaced), not including the title page and references. APA Format – 12pt. – Times New Roman – Double Spaced – 1” margins – with title page, with in text citations and a works cited – first line of each paragraph indented. The paper should include a minimum of 6 peer reviewed sources published in the last 7 years.

Human Errors and their Relation to Aircraft Accidents and Incidents

Research paper on Human Errors and their Relation to Aircraft Accidents and Incidents

Paper details:

This is a capstone paper. Please look at the files I have attached. I have created an outline and the references I would like you to use for this research paper. Thank you. The topic (topic is in the next paragraph) of the project will be determined at the beginning of the course, project size will be approximately 18 to 25 pages of text in length. The project will be formatted with a cover page, abstract, introduction, background of the problem, research of the problem, conclusions from your research, and recommendations to address the problem. The purpose of this research is to highlight human factors that are largely responsible for aviation related accidents and incidents and ways in which the aviation industry can help reduce these accidents. Three basic error types exist such as decision, skill-based and perceptual errors. Primary factors for human errors include fatigue, situational awareness, memory, training and workload. Providing the proper resources, training and knowledge on detailed human error factor crashes can lead aviation companies into safer working environments.

To what extent is it ethical for the international community to intervene in the dispute between the Israelis and Palestinians, regarding the Israelis building cities on Palestinian contested land?

To what extent is it ethical for the international community to intervene in the dispute between the Israelis and Palestinians, regarding the Israelis building cities on Palestinian contested land?

Subjects that need to be incorporated: History (context) and Philosophy (plz try to get three Philosophers: one from the Israel side, one for the Palestinian side, and a philosopher with a overall viewpoint of ethics like Aristotle) Then incorporate a self-made viewpoint which is that the international should intervene because they did before when they granted land to the Israelis.

How Culture Affects Health

Supporting Lectures: Refer to the following lecture: Health and Culture How Culture Affects Health Using the country you chose from Week 1 and data gathered from the course textbooks, the South University Online Library, and websites (World Health Organization, United Nations, etc.), choose a health concern affecting your country. This can be a disease, nutrition-related deficits, behavioral concerns, environmental concerns, etc. On the basis of your research, create a 2- to 3-page report that answers the following questions: What population of the country is most affected by the health concern you have chosen? How does culture play a role in the overall health concern you have chosen? This can include religious beliefs, etc. Be sure to support your points for each of the components in parentheses with data from the program and outside research.
