Radiomics research in prostate cancer

Description

The idea would be to use publically available data from The Cancer Imaging Archive (https://www.cancerimagingarchive.net/) focused on Prostate Cancer with Radiomics tools from “The Computational Environment for Radiological Research” (Deasy JO, Blanco AI, Clark VH. CERR: a computational environment for radiotherapy research. Med Phys. 2003;30:979–985.) and the latest extension to that (Apte et al. Technical Note: Extension of CERR for computational radiomics: A comprehensive MATLAB platform for reproducible radiomics research. Med Phys. 2018;45:3713-3720) to predict Gleason Grade and then test that on new data

Proposed New Photographic Guidelines for Plastic Surgeons Using Social Media Platforms

Description

Like the title suggests, this paper is about before and after photos of cosmetic plastic surgeries and making guidelines to standardize presentation on social media apps like instagram. The results and photos are often subjective, but we would like to make arguments to objectify them. I have attached 10/21/2019 Writers Hub – Freelance Writing  the beginning of the paper to help as a launching point. We need another 3000 words. I also attached other papers which examine medical photography. Attached are 22 screenshots from instagram which can be used as figures and talking points in the article (assign a figure number to each one). I can email them to you if they don’t upload here properly. Feel free to screenshot and use other before and after photos from plastic surgeons on instagram (@robertmorinmd , @drdana_nyc , @drghavami , @plastic.touch). The main procedures to go over are breast implant/lift, abdominoplasty, brazilian butt lift, rhinoplasty, and rhytidectomy. Ability to analyze photographs and include more references is needed. Some discussion points: Lighting criteria & angles Hairdo – consistency Makeup (Used or not? Should it be?) BMI change criteria (often used for abdominoplasty and gluteal augmentation) How many weeks or months out? Makes a difference 1 week vs. 6 months out from surgery and a lot of the time there’s no long term photos online on websites or social media posts. Importance of transparency in the profession for patients if they want to take American Association of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) seriously.

Research in Clinical practice

Use of Research in Clinical Practice Throughout this course, you have examined and considered how the research process contributes to the field of clinical nursing practice. More than just an exercise in developing a research question, searching the literature to guide future research, and performing actual data collection/data analysis, the conclusions you draw from your research findings are useful in helping to develop and enact effective clinical practice. In essence, the process of conducting research contributes to positive social change in that the solutions that you might propose as a nurse researcher and professional will likely impact quality of care and patient safety. For this Discussion, read the book chapter by Titler (2008) presented in this week’s resources that describes evidence-based practice and translational science, as well as the kind of research needed for both. Then, reflect on how the knowledge you gained about research will support your effort as a nursing professional to improve patient quality and safety. Describe how you will use evidence-based practice to improve patient quality and safety in your health care setting. Be specific and provide examples. Then, explain how the knowledge gained about research in this course will support your role in practice as a nursing professional. Then, describe how you will use evidence-based practice to improve patient quality and safety. Be sure to include in your Discussion any unanswered questions that need to be considered by your classmates and/or Instructor. Note: Post a three paragraph (at least 350 words) response. Be sure to use evidence from the readings and include in-text citations. Utilize essay-level writing practice and skills, including the use of transitional material and organizational frames. Research Project: Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease CJD

Research Project: Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD)

The research project requires that you select a disease, syndrome, etc. of interest, which affects a diverse population, and write a descriptive epidemiological analysis of that topic. Descriptive epidemiology is usually the first stage in studying the epidemiology of a disease or syndrome or other conditions.

Your descriptive analysis will cover: -Person: Who is affected? (Examples include age, gender, address.) -Place: Where did the cases occur? (The geographic locations may show clusters or patterns.) -Time: When did the outbreak occur (date, season, day of week, etc.)?

-You may obtain data from multiple sources, such as the National Center for Health Statistics, national, state or local health departments, World Health Organization (WHO), texts, and the Internet. Make sure you cite your sources correctly. -Include patterns or comparisons when necessary or applicable (e.g., comparing a state with a country). -Evaluate screening programs for early detection of the disease and evaluate the current impacts of public health intervention as it relates to the chosen condition.
