Health care providers at all levels brings you into contact with people

The practice of health care providers at all levels brings you into contact with people from a variety of faiths. This calls for knowledge and understanding of a diversity of faith expressions; for the purpose of this course, the focus will be on the Christian worldview.

Based on “Case Study: End of Life Decisions,” the Christian worldview, and the worldview questions presented in the required topic study materials you will complete an ethical analysis of George’s situation and his decision from the perspective of the Christian worldview.

Provide a 1,500-2,000-word ethical analysis while answering the following questions:

Firstly, How would George interpret his suffering in light of the Christian narrative, with an emphasis on the fallenness of the world?

Secondly, How would George interpret his suffering in light of the Christian narrative, with an emphasis on the hope of resurrection?

Thirdly, As George contemplates life with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), how would the Christian worldview inform his view about the value of his life as a person?

Fourthly, What sorts of values and considerations would the Christian worldview focus on in deliberating about whether or not George should opt for euthanasia?

Further, Based on the values and considerations above, what options would be morally justified in the Christian worldview for George and why?

Additionally, Based on your worldview, what decision would you make if you were in George’s situation?

Remember to support your responses with the topic study materials.

The adherence of medication in chronic kidney disease

This is a paper that focuses on the adherence of medication in chronic kidney disease. The paper also discusses the individual differences relating to the topic.

The adherence of medication in chronic kidney disease

Title: A report on adherence of medication in chronic kidney disease (affecting adults) for dialysis nurses

The aim of this report is to address how individual differences have an impact on medication adherence in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Individual differences:
Sociodemographic features and beliefs about medicines on adherence to medication treatment (Theofilou, 2013)
Age, e.g. older hemodialysis patients as well as older transplant patients are more adherent to medication treatment (Avram et al., 1990;
sex and also gender differences (Kimmel et al., 1995)
ethnic differences (Jindal et al., 2003)

AND SO ON! I assume there are many more individual differences that may determine the adherence to medication/treatment in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
STAKEHOLDERS REPORT

1.       Firstly, the task is to produce a REPORT addressing the impact of CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE (kidney failure; CKD) and THE ROLE OF INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES on this condition. This has to be presented as a 2,000 WORD REPORT directed at healthcare professionals (in this case DIALYSIS NURSES). At the end of the report reference list has to included and the report has to based on academic literature. It is like an academic writing for dialysis nurses.

2.       Secondly, to accompany this a LEAFLET has to be designed and created which will be aimed at a particular client group that has been identified in the report. (in this case PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE and need dialysis). The contents of the leaflet have to be based on the evidence presented in the stakeholders report but should be suitable for the lay reader.

Lastly, it also needs to include some statistics, graphs, numbers too, which is easily comprehendible by the lay people/lay public who have this disease.
The Leaflet should be engaging and easily readable, avoiding special/technical/difficult terms and words.

More details;

Point-of-care (POC)

A major trend in biomedical engineering is the development of reliable, self-contained point-of-care (POC) devices for diagnostics and in-field assays. The new generation of such platforms increasingly addresses the clinical and environmental needs. Moreover, they are becoming more and more integrated with everyday objects, such as smartphones, and their spread among unskilled common people, has the power to improve the quality of life, both in the developed world and in low-resource settings. The future success of these tools will depend on the integration of the relevant key enabling technologies on an industrial scale (microfluidics with microelectronics, highly sensitive detection methods and low-cost materials for easy-to-use tools). Here, recent advances and perspectives will be reviewed across the large spectrum of their applications.
The appearance of lab-on-a-chip (LOC) technologies and the improvement of micro total analysis systems (µTAS) have provided new tools for a broad range of applications, from health (diagnosis and disease management) to monitoring of environmental threats, as well as detection of bio-warfare agents, toxins and allergens in food and agriculture products. The interest in these platforms is worldwide, as witnessed by the international funding for research and the strong academic and industrial efforts to turn them into common use tools.

Firstly, Psychological therapy services for adults.
Secondly, Learning disability services.

Thirdly, Services for people with autistic spectrum disorders.

Fourthly, Physical healthcare in medical settings.

In completing the third assignment you will need to explain the role of the clinical psychologist within this area, though you should focus more strongly on evaluating the usefulness of the contribution clinical psychologists make. We won’t be giving you many marks for simply describing what clinical psychologists do. In order to prepare an answer that provides a good level of critical evaluation and discussion you should be guided by the questions included in appendix 7.1 of the module handbook, though you do not have to answer all these questions comprehensively, and you may have additional ideas of your own which are not covered by these questions. You can use the discussion board and critical reflection lectures to develop your ideas by asking the practitioner tutors about aspects of their clinical work.

More details;

What are psychological therapies?

Psychological therapies are sometimes referred to as ‘talking therapies’. Psychological therapy is a collaborative space to explore your difficulties in a safe and confidential setting. Individually with a therapist. In a couple or with other members of the family. In a group of people with similar difficulties.
Further, What do clinical psychologists do?
Clinical psychologists meet with clients to identify problems—emotional, mental and behavioral—in their lives. Through observation, interviews and tests, the psychologist will diagnose any existing or potential disorders. … Identify psychological, emotional or behavioral issues.
Lastly, how does Clinical Psychology benefit society?
Clinical psychologists evaluate, prevent, and relieve people of many mental illnesses and promote positive personal development. These psychologists benefit our society by helping the people within our society improve their own lives by overcoming their problems.

One of the reasons that many of us are interested in a health career is our genuine desire to make a difference and help others.  However, it is important to think about how helping can have complicated implications.  There is the possibility of creating unfortunate power dynamics. Or mistakenly trying to help in a way that turns out to actually be harmful.  This is one of the genuine challenges that all people who work in communities struggle with as they attempt to contribute.

One example of this is illustrate d in the ways that non-profits attempt to support communities in Africa.  Some strategies are patriarchal, condescending and can lead to a problematic image of African cultures internationally.

Watch this satire video that was produced to illustrate this phenomenon called “Radi-Aid” for Norway: https://youtu.be/oJLqyuxm96k

Read or listen to this NPR story:

The Message Behind African Heaters for Norway Spoof  Link (Links to an external site.)
For yet another perspective, read this short article Beware of the ‘Voluntourists‘ Doing Good by Ossob Mohamud for Africa on the Blog, part of the Guardian Africa Network Wed 13 Feb 2013  Link (Links to an external site.)

What does it mean to ‘help’?  Obviously, there is tremendous need and those of us with privilege and power can make a real difference for others.  However, these discussions bring up the need to be self-aware and recognize the complex consequences that can stem from good intentions.

Reflect:

What do you think/feel/experience when you read these articles and think about your prior learning or perhaps your own experiences?

Reflective Write:

Firstly, Write a 300 word entry that connects your thoughts/feelings/experiences with the complexities  of helping and link it to your prior learning.

Secondly, What theory or model have you learned about that sheds light on this topic for you?

Thirdly, How could this be explained?  Next…explain how this will affect your future actions?

Lastly, How might you use any new knowledge or competencies in current work or your future career?

Note the word count at the end of your post.

The management of clients with motor speech disorders

This is a paper that focuses on the management of clients with motor speech disorders. The paper also provides a case scenario to analyse on the assignment topic.

The management of clients with motor speech disorders

Overview: The management of clients with motor speech disorders falls under the range of practice area, “speech”. The case study aims to facilitate acquisition of the skills and knowledge required for the evaluation and planning of assessment and treatment of motor speech disorders. There is a particular focus on the application of theoretical principles.

Case Scenario:

You are a newly graduated speech pathologist working on a neurorehabilitation ward. You have received a new referral. Using the case history and data , along with your own independent research, you are to:
1) Firstly, analyse and describe your client’s communication profile. Formulate a differential diagnosis that is theoretically driven and support by research and the case data.
Hypotheses should be regarding the level of breakdown and spared and impaired sensorimotor speech processes using a theoretical model (20%).

2) Secondly, formulate an assessment plan for your client detailing what additional information you would need to gather to guide your management and why. Rationales should be provided, with theoretical and research justification for each assessment goal or area. You should include examples of tasks or measures that you might use (30%).

3) Thirdly, set out an intervention plan with rationale. This should include:
Formulation of long-term goals and treatment period goals and also identification of the treatment approach or tasks you would use with clear justification (20%).
Application of the principles of motor learning to justify and outline the structure of practice and feedback regimen to ensure both acquisition and generalization of skills targeted during the treatment period. You may select one treatment period goal to demonstrate this application and use of motor learning theory (10%).

4) Lastly, outline what treatment outcome measures you will use and how they could be analysed to determine whether your intervention is effective and treatment goals achieved. (10%).
