Augustine vs Sartre

Augustine vs Sartre

Paper details:

Augustine asks a good question. If free will causes so much misery, then why would God give us it? Augustine insists that free will is a divine grace, and an incredible blessing. Indeed, it’s what makes us the beings that we are–neither stuck in an experience machine, nor ruled by our desires (like lower beasts). Sartre says that free will is a curse. Who is right?
