Female difference of the woman director in “Blue steel” perspective

Discuss in an essay whether the ‘female difference’ of a woman director’s vision could be said to be evident in “Blue Steel” (Kathryn Bigelow, 1990).

Firstly, provide a critical account of how persuasive or useful you find this concept to be. Aim to combine precise and selective reference to your film/TV text (ie close textual analysis of one or two given sequences). With a thoughtful, critical response to the debate/idea you are examining. Remember, close textual analysis requires you to be attentive to all the aspects of the text’s particular construction from lighting. Additionally, include sound, to editing, to composition, and so on. However, if you would like to include a copy of the particular passage/quotation which you are focusing on, you may do so at the start of your essay, without it counting towards your word count.

Please do not drift off to much to other movies ( use them only to compare or emphasize your statement ) or theories as the word count on this assignment is very limited. Secondly, focus mainly on the directing style of K. Bigelow and on how evident the “female difference” is. Please include a bibliography and filmography. Please use any literauture source you find suitable for this topic including the sources below. However, do not over-saturate the essay with too many sources (please very briefly mention the movie “Lost in Translation” (2003 by Coppola) for a comparison to make and emphasize‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍ your case).
