Firstly, explore issues related to bi-cultural children and families using the attached case study to assist with the assignment. The case study is about Walter who is  a 16-year-old biracial male. His dad is African American and is an executive. His mom is
White and a kindergarten teacher.

Secondly, using the case study answer  the following questions. As a bi-cultural child, what are some of the challenges and injustices walter is experiencing and may experience as he transition into adulthood?

How can you help both Walter and his parents draw on their individual and cultural strengths to creatively address these life challenges?

Cross-cultriual work with bi-cultiral famili‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍es should employ strategies. This strategies focus on developing positive feelings about membership in both parents’ groups. Lastly, discuss how you would teach Walter’s parents to confront devaluing or mixed racial messages. This should be in addition to freeing children from racialized loyalty binds, and have open and direct conversations about race.
