Write a 2,000 word essay on the following:
You are a health economist/outcomes expert advising on an international randomised control trial for a new asthma drug compared to an existing drug. The trial will take place in nine countries (Brazil, Germany, France, USA, Netherlands, Ireland, Canada, Australia and UK) and will run for two years.  You have to provide advice on the following:

a. whether to include a generic preference-based measure, and if so, which one and when.

b. which generic or condition specific preference-base measure should be used to obtain the health state values for the cost effectiveness model?  [40%]
Please provide your advice discussing the factors you would need to consider in making your choice.  You need to justify all your answers.

Notes:
The word limit is 2,000 words (not including Tables and References).  Essays that are excess of the word limit by 10% will be penalty.  Please see the Student Handbook for further details.
Essays are to be in paragraph form with appropriate structure (i.e. brief introduction, main body, and conclusion). Avoid the use of footnotes or endnotes.

The assignment should be via Turnitin through the MOLE classroom for this module. Note that there will be a number of students across the University using the system making it slower than usual so we advise against leaving submission until the last minute.

Late submissions submitted after the due date without a formal extension will have 5% deducted from their assignment for each day they are late up to five working days. After that they will receive a mark of 0. Please see the Student Handbook for further details. Students must request an extension to a submission deadline at least 24 hours before the deadline.
