You will develop a 5-paragraph essay that describes the steps of the process to your audience (your classmates, who probably have not performed this task before). Think about the following:  What are the steps involved, and in which order should they be described?

For this essay, you will describe a process that you are familiar with and able to perform (Baking a cake, changing a tire, writing a computer code, etc.). You will develop a 5-paragraph essay that describes the steps of the process to your audience (your classmates, who probably have not performed this task before). Think about the following:

What are the steps involved, and in which order should they be described?
What are the supplies or tools that a person would need in order to perform this task?
Are there any dangers or safety issues that a person should know about while performing this task?
What is the final outcome? How would a person know if he/she has been successful?
This essay should be between 800-1000 words. Take care to keep this essay in the third-person narrative (no ‘I, me, my, you, your, we, us, our’). You are describing a process, but not telling someone what to do. For instance, you would not write:

First, you should open the package of bread.

Instead, you could write:

The first step is to open the package of bread.

There should be:
An introduction with a 3-part thesis statement. Lastly, 3 body paragraphs that inform the reader, in an objective voice, about your topic
A concluding paragraph
