Assignment Prompt:

For this assignment, you will choose two different cultures (from two discrete countries) to compare using at least two representations of culture from art, literature, music, or film. In a presentation of five to ten minutes, you should compare and contrast the worldviews of these cultures. What is a worldview?

Worldview is how the particular culture interacts with the world, and how the values and views on human nature are represented to other cultures. You should seek to explain the differences but also how these cultures share some similarities – in what ways are they connected?

Suggested Outline for Presentation:

Firstly, Introduction.
Secondly, Introduce yourself.
Thirdly, Introduce your topic by identifying the two cultures you want to explore.
Fourthly, Tell us why you chose the topic.
Also, Explaining Values and Worldviews of Two Cultures.
In the first part of the presentation, make sure to present the two discrete cultures.
Emphasize 3-4 main ideas you want to present.
Make sure to use plenty of images.
Focus on how values are represented through things like art, music, etc.
Try to account for differences in worldview.
Wrapping Up.
Explain how you might relate to or understand these cultures.
Comment on the importance of the cultural artifacts and how they reflect worldview.
Conclude the presentation with a discussion question that one of your classmates can respond to
