#1 Counseling Analysis – This will be on the movie Precious. The first critical analysis paper will provide you with the opportunity to observe and assess interactions between a counselor and a client. I will provide several films/case studies for you to choose from to review for this paper. Your assignment will be to view the film/read a case study and assess the interaction between the counselor and the client for issues of culture, bias, identity, ethics, and the therapeutic relationship. Papers should include theories and approaches used as discussed in class and discuss how the counselor was either successful or unsuccessful in each of these areas as s/he interacted with the client. Be prepared to use the Kottler &Shepherd textbook, the Rubin book, or class lecture notes to support your analysis when needed.
