The court role of Prevention and Response
This week you will critically evaluate the role the court plays in prevention and response to the type of abuse you chose in Module 02. First, conduct scholarly research to examine the role the court has in preventing the type of abuse. Provide a thorough summary supported with research of at least two prevention efforts used by the court. Discuss each prevention effort separately and support each effort with scholarly research. Next, provide a thorough summary of the court’s response to the type of abuse. What role do the courts play in responding to this type of abuse? This summary can be a statute that dictates how the court must response to the type of abuse OR a policy that is explained in the rules of criminal procedure or other governing agency to guide the court’s response. Finally, conduct research to examine the challenges of these prevention efforts and responses. Choose ONE of the prevention efforts discussed above and research a challenge of the effort. Then, research a challenge to the statute or policy response. Provide a discussion of each challenge that is supported with research. The assignment should meet APA formatting guidelines and incorporate at least two scholarly sources (from the library databases). Use headers to identify each section. This is consistent with APA format. The headers should be “First Prevention Effort of the Court”, “Second Prevention Effort of the Court”, “Statute (or policy) Response”, “Challenge of Prevention Effort”, “Challenge of Response Effort”. Here is the section of the outline provided in the Project Introduction found in Module 01 that provides a breakdown of what should be included in this segment: The court’s role in prevention and response Discussion of first prevention effort used by the court Supported with research Discussion of second prevention effort used by the court Supported with research Discussion of responses used by the court Statutory requirements and/or policy recommendations Supported with research Discussion of challenges faced by the courts One challenge of prevention efforts Supported with research One challenge of response Supported with research
