Your task
Individually, you are to analyse the XXI Commonwealth Games which were organised in 2018 and held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Plotting the Event Life Cycle Model and analysing the future development stage.
Assessment Description.
The purpose of this individual assignment is to further students’ skills in understanding the role of events management within the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. By applying the Event Life Cycle concept to the real-world case study. Students will analyse the core events management principles used to create, design and plan sustainable events.
Assessment Instructions
Firstly, your first task is to research relevant sources of information about the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Also, your workshop facilitator will show you a few sources to use during the class in week 3.
Secondly, your next task is to investigate and identify what has happened during the formation, growth, and staging stages of the XXI Commonwealth Games. This is by plotting your findings onto the Event Life Cycle Model. (please refer to workshop 3, slide 9 to see an example). Please note that this task has no word limit.
Finally, your final task is to analyse Gold Coast proposed plan of future development of the event site. To address the stigma of ‘ghost’ post-big event sites by proposing at least three recommendations addressing stakeholder’s concerns related to the sustainability of such events.
Lastly, in preparing your case study analysis, you will need to use at least 8 sources of information that are referenced in accordance with Kaplan Harvard Referencing Guide. These may include corporate websites, government publications, industry reports, census data, journal articles, and newspaper articles.
