Essay 1: Will the World Be Better Off or Worse for Global Climate Change?

Subject: Global climate change is one of the most politically charged scientific topics in history.

While a majority of Americans now accept that climate change is a reality, a large proportion, particularly those who are republican, conservative, and religious, deny that humans are the primary cause of such change. Others have accepted that humans are the cause, but deny that the changes will make life worse, and in fact, argue that the warmer temperatures and higher levels of atmospheric CO2 will enhance crop production, and hence, be a net benefit to humans.

But will projected climate change enhance the quality of our life, or will it make it more difficult? And either way, should we devote scarce resources to combatting climate change, or should we employ those resources to tolerate the changes, under the assumption that trying to halt climate change is futile. What do you think we should do, and why?
