Theory- Evaluate criminological theory to explain criminal behaviors and crime trends.

PLO 4- Theory- Evaluate criminological theory to explain criminal behaviors and crime trends. ILO 2- Innovation and Creativity: Construct a novel or unique idea, question, format, or product. For this assignment you will be using two criminological theories to explain a specific type of crime. You can choose any specific type of crime you would like. Some examples of a specific type of crime are robbery, human trafficking, murder, or terrorism. You may choose one of these, or some other type of crime which interests you. You will also use aspects of these criminological theories to develop your own criminological theory. Using this new theory, you will again explain how this new theory can explain a specific type of crime. You can use the same crime you identified for the first part of your paper. ***Make sure to read the instructions fully so that you include all of the required elements*** Instructions: Submit an 8-10 page paper addressing all four components below. Be sure to fully and completely answer all questions and respond to all prompts. Use appropriate references throughout your paper, and be sure to include all citations in the body of the paper. Use headings for each section. You also must have a title page and a reference page, which does not count toward the total page count. You must also have an introduction and a conclusion. Introduction and Explanation of Two Criminological Theories: Introduction: Introduce the topics you will be covering in your paper. Include the names of the theories you chose, and the type of crime or crimes you will be addressing. Explanation: Choose any two criminological theories and three components from each theory, and fully explain each theory and each component. Evaluate a Specific Crime Trend: Using the same two theories you used for number one do the following: Choose a specific type of crime and provide a brief description of what kind of crime you’ll be addressing below. Use the three components of each of the theories you explained in number 1 to explain at least two recent trends in the type of crime you chose. A crime trend is a significant change in a crime within a certain time frame or geographical area. You will need to do this separately for each of the theories you chose. Be sure to include appropriate references to support your explanation. Alternative/Merged Theory: Using the same theories that you used in number 1, you will choose and combine at least two elements from each theory to create an alternative/merged theory. You may also add your own elements to create this new theory: Conclusion: Briefly discuss at least two things you learned from creating a merged theory, and one reason you think using multiple theories to explain trends in crime may be helpful, and one reason it may not be helpful. The paper will be typed double spaced in Arial using 12-point font with 1” margins in APA format. You are required to provide a title and a reference page, which does not count toward the total page count. Make sure to reference any source you used in APA format. Save your paper as a .doc with your name and the assignment name in the file, using Last Name_Assignment. So, if your name were Alicia Jackson, and this is Essay 1, you would title it Jackson_Essay 1. Name your new theory. The name should reflect the major aspects of the new theory. Name, describe and discuss each of the components of your new theory. You should have at least three components in your new theory, and those three (or more, if you choose) components should represent a logical merger and/or integration of the four components you chose from the two theories. You may also add your own components to create logical connections between the components you describe, or to add logical separate components to your theory. (Note: You may not simply describe the individual, already existing components of the two theories for your new theory. The goal in this section is to merge and integrate the components of the two theories together to create a separate theory that logically combines them. Therefore, your new theory components must reflect this goal.) Choose a specific type of crime. You may choose the same type of crime you used earlier in the paper, or choose a different type. Briefly describe the type of crime you will be addressing. Using your new alternate theory that you described in section b, explain at least one trend in the type of crime you chose. You may not choose the same trend you chose for number 2 above. Be sure to include all of the components of your new theory in your explanation, and use references as appropriate to support your explanation.
