Assess the philosophical and ethical base shaping the formation of the law and how these relate to the ethical principles of the Australian Association of Social Work. Preparation Before starting this assignment, it helps if you:
Ensure you have some clarity on the assessment instructions, clarifying issues with the lecturer early is useful.
Discussed with your colleagues the types of cases you would like to utilise in this assessment (i.e. a case of negligence, mental health issues, child protection, human rights, consumer protection?).
Ensured you are able to work with the databases to locate a relevant case, asking library for assistance if you require it; talking to the lecturer about locating a case if this is proving difficult (doing so early is especially helpful). Assignment Instructions For this assignment you are required to write a paper using the template provided. This paper is to focus on a legal case of your choice (chosen from the Austlii database accessible via ECU Worldsearch/databases).
State legal structures and describe their respective jurisdictions
In your case study please consider the following issues in order to conduct a social work analysis of the case:
· Outline the legal and professional jurisdictions relevant to the case. Identify specific sections of the law relevant to your case.
· Organisational social, and cultural factors that should be considered in your chosen case. The case must be public, which means a case currently listed in the AUSTLII database but it may be from any jurisdiction. It cannot be a case from your placement or work unless that is a case listed in the AUSTLII database and is therefore a case of public record. Assessments should include a broad range of literature to support the claims made.
As a guide students should go beyond the texts provided in the unit. Use of literature is part of the grading criteria.
