Task: 
This assignment should be completed once you are approximately 75% finished reading your novel.  For this assignment you will be writing a reflective journal.  Use the prompts below to reflect on what you’ve read so far, to make a prediction about the story’s ending, and to think critically about the author’s writing style.

Paragraph 1 – Personal reflection:  What do you like or dislike about the story, genre, or characters so far?  Has anything interesting happened so far? Also, Support your response with quotes from the novel.

Paragraph 2 – Analyze the author’s style:  Does the author use any techniques, vocabulary, or literary devices to enhance their writing?  Use the provided handout on style.  Additionally, address tone, point of view, conflict.  Lastly, what do you like or dislike about the author’s style. Also, be specific, providing examples to support your ideas.

Paragraph 3 – Make a prediction: How do you think the story will end?  What leads you to this conclusion? Is it the characters’ attitudes, the setting, or perhaps the author’s unique style that has convinced you of this ending?  Does it seem plausible or realistic?
