THE FIVE STAGES OF CONFLICT

We will be working around a model that includes five stages of conflict. In the first stage, the “Latent Stage,” the people who are in conflict are not yet aware that a conflict may exist. For example a project may have been turned in late to a client, but the manager is not aware of it yet so the participants are not aware there is a conflict brewing. The “Perceived Stage” is when the people involved in a conflict become fully aware that there is a conflict, such as when the manager discovers that the project has been delivered late and goes to speak to the employee about it. During the “Felt Stage” stress and anxiety are felt by one or more of the participants due to the conflict, and this leads to the “Manifest Stage,” during which the conflict can be observed. The Manifest Stage can take a number of shapes including: e-mails, phone calls, phone messages, face-to-face meetings, or any situation in which the conflict could be observed. The final stage is the “Aftermath Stage,” which takes place when there is some outcome of the conflict, such as a resolution to, or dissolution of, the problem.

In my career as a nurse, I have been faced with so many discordant situations, mainly by shift woes. I’m not a night nurse for sure, but, sometimes I would pick up a shift from time to time just to adjust the budget as we all do. I decided that I will be writing my research paper on the American institution of journalism/media. To begin the paper, I plan to talk about a little bit of how journalism and media plays a role in how the American people get their information weather that be from a newspaper or from the news. In today’s day and age everyone gets their information from either their local news station or from their most liked social media platform like Facebook or twitter.

But the news they receive is not trusted sometimes. I intend to talk about how getting news from creditable sources is very valuable.  Will try to implement the background of journalism and media how they use ethos, pathos, and logos in everything that is spoken about. I will also try to speak about how the categories in journalism and keys of social media.

I will also try and compare different media types and how a post from Facebook can be very different from a post from twitter for example. By receiving different types of new can either play a positive effect or negative effect on how the reader receives the message.

I will then try to talk about how the government and politics adds stress on the media and journalist. For example, in the presidential election we see plenty of advertisements that twist the words of the other candidate to try and persuade the people. That is just one of the many ways that the government and politics can have a role in the media.
