Leadership Styles in Health Care

Leadership Styles in Health Care

Create a Powerpoint presentation Research different styles of leadership and identify three different styles that interest you.

There are MANY resources on leadership styles and some are more appropriate for fields/programs/majors than others. I am not directing you to any one ‘leadership style guide.’ I am however, asking you to select from a verified, credible source. Do NOT use about.com, Wikipedia, personal blogs, etc. Use both books to help identify characteristics of leaders that you find compelling. Different industries have different styles of leadership that are more or less meaningful. Sandberg as well as Kay & Shipman emphasize this frequently throughout their books. Please identify a leadership style that reflects the health care industry. There is NOT a one-size-fits-all for leadership. What works well in finance will differ from criminal justice and those would both differ from education. -Slide #1:Name and Title Slide (include Industry) -Slide #2 identify and define the three styles of leadership you researched, include a summary of each style -Slide #3: provide a pros and cons list for each of the identified styles, aim for at least 3 pros and cons for each (18 total pros and cons) -Slide #4: using the cultural information we have gathered during this module, explain how and why each of leadership styles may be perceived differently between a male and female leader. You cannot say, “there would be no difference” because as we have learned, that is not true from a systemic and cultural perspective. *citation Hyper link or should be included in the notes or at the bottom for each slide. Learn to speak all languages because a powerful presentation can be a powerful negotiation or persuasion tool. -40% Visual Appeal: Is the data presented concise yet informative? Are there too many words on the slide? Color Choices? Are the slide organized so that the data is easily read? 12 points -$0% Data: Thoughtful inclusion of leadership qualities for your Industry (hint: stay away from quick Google searches for “best leadership styles”) 15 Points -5% Citations: 3 Points -Poor Grammar or Misspellings can reduce points by up to 8 points

Healthcare in Business

One of the most influential reports that fundamentally changed medical education and healthcare in this country is the Flexner Report of 1910. For this assignment, create a presentation that provides an overview of the Flexner Report of 1910. Consider describing some of the major shortcomings that Flexner found. There are also positive and negative factors that were felt as a result of the report, consider discussing some of each. Your presentation/slide show should contain at least 5 slides, not including title and reference slides. You are required to provide narration for each slide. Your presentation SHOULD BE between 4-6 minutes in length. You will be graded on the quality of your presentation and its visual appearance as well as your verbal presentation.

P53 and the future for cancer treatments

Research paper that examines a debatable topic. It also needs to have a clear thesis. Your paper has neither of these traits. You need a clear thesis. What one thing are you trying to say here? What are you trying to argue? It cannot be just telling the reader about P53. Think of a controversial issue related to its potential future use. Is there a specific form of cancer that could be your focus? For example, cancers caused by a virus. Are you arguing that it is the most viable option for cancer treatment? Are you arguing that it is the future direction for cancer treatment? If so, you need to say that outright and then develop points to convince the reader. Think of 2-4 points that you could make here. Or you could focus on the P53 gene and cancers caused by a virus. You need a better opening or lead paragraph, one that really grabs the reader’s attention and makes them want to continue reading. You could do that with an anecdote or story related to genetic research or a specific patient. Draw them into the subject. After your initial paragraph in which you grab the readers’ attention. Set the stage for your thesis statement. Then state it as well as how you are going to argue it in the paper. Follow this with a couple pages of background information on how cancer is typically treated. Then give background information on P53. Lay your ideas out in an outline and email it to me. Build your argument.Watch some videos. Connect the scholarly and nonscholarly sources into a paper for your peers that argues a specific point. As you revise your thesis, you may need additional scholarly sources that match it better. Come to class on Wednesday with a revised paper. State of Hospitals in the United States

Create a presentation that highlights the state of hospitals in the United States and discuss some of the challenges that hospitals face today. Your presentation/slide show should contain at least 5 slides, not including title and reference slides. You are required to provide narration for each slide. Your presentation SHOULD BE between 4-6 minutes in length.

Health Care Financial Reform Proposal

Write an essay (1,000-1,250 words) on what you think should be included in future trends of the health care system. Include the following points in your proposal about the future trends: Considering the incorporation of technology such as HMIS and artificial intelligence, how will technology benefit health care, how might it be regulated, and how many people in the market would have access to this technology? How would your future trend improve efficiency, impact quality, and promote positive patient outcomes? Would your proposal have an effect on profitability, financial resources, return on investment (ROI), and the rising costs of health care? How would you adjust your proposal to account for competition in the market? Would there be an impact if payment sources were changed? Include at least three references, including your textbook, to support your position.
