This assignment is to help you understand and explain Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), one of the most prominent global efforts to address discrimination against women. To complete the assignment, you will compare reports about a country’s government and the text of CEDAW to evaluate whether the country has fulfilled the commitment to signing and ratifying CEDAW while providing evidence to support conclusion. After reviewing the many countries and their reports, choose one country that has signed and ratified CEDAW, whose government/state has submitted at least one CEDAW report, and where a non-governmental organization (NGO) has also submitted a shadow report about that country for that same reporting timeframe (e.g. 2017). MAKE SURE YOU RESEARCH ENOUGH COUNTRIES AND THEIR CEDAW REPORTS BEFORE MAKING A SELECTION. Read through the assignment to know if a country’s set of reports will help you complete the assignment.
